Why are there so many Clemson fans where did they come from

Because they were mainly pulling for a guy on the opposing team.

When I'm rooting for the Panthers my college allegiances go out the door.

agree on the college allegiances...  I went to FSU, but I'm okay with Winston and the Bucs having a bad day against the Panthers.  Also, I don't boo Greg Olsen because he went to a rival school either.  It's living in the past.

But those Clemson fans, bless their hearts...

It's only 2 hours away and they're champions.  It's a preseason game featuring a guy from that championship team who just happens to play the most glorified position in football. It's not rocket science.

Watson is one of those rare players.  He is like a Cam or a Wilson.  And given the Texans literally went the playoffs with NO QB......Watson and the Texans will be relevant because now they got a winner at the QB spot.

Watson is no Cam nor Wilson. He doesn't have the scrambling ability of Wilson and he doesn't have Cam's arm or size. He is on the level of kirk cousins or Carson Wentz.

Few runners are actually identical.

Watson is no Kirk Cousins.  Watson is a legit dual threat.

and of course Watson doesn't have a rocket like Cam.  Maybe 2 QBs can hang in arm strength. He has a better short game/touch though.

Watson landed in a perfect spot for success.

As I have maintained for quite some time, there are little to no Panthers fans in SC. The NORTH Carolina Panthers is what they really are. They will root against us in a heartbeat for some 9th string scrub that was a Cock or Tigger.

You can maintain all you want but you are wrong. The CAROLINA Panthers are the primary NFL team for the majority of SC. We do have our Cowboy and Steeler fans but that is mostly in the southern portion of the state. This has been shown before in a map of every state's favorite NFL team by county that was released back in 2014. The Panther love has done nothing but increase with all that Cam and the rest of the team does for the children and the community for both states. Oh and btw, Watson is also currently the top selling Jersey in NC so I guess a lot of you guys are "rooting against us for some 9th string scrub" as well.

Live in SC and Clemson and USC support is very strong. If UNC won a national title in football and they had a QB playing in BOA, trust me you'd see the same bandwagon fans with their awful baby blue jerseys everywhere. Pretty much any local team in the Carolinas would probably react the same after a national title

South Carolina fans are the worst.  The majority of those Clemson fans don't root for the Panthers, so don't get it twisted there.

Also, the majority of South Carolina fans hate Cam Newton, so they don't root for the Panthers either.

Lastly, NC State fans root for Russel Wilson, but also root for the Panthers.  Just FYI.

Ummm, a lot of fans of all 3 of those teams would take exception to your blanket statements. It's akin to saying saying all women are bad drivers- a sweeping generalization. I seriously doubt there's even a poll anywhere to cover the majority claims. Fine with me if you choose to buy those numbers, but not fine to push 'em as if they're facts. Hell, I think a good number of people who respond to polls are lying anyway, depending on their mood of the moment or whether they want to admit their true feelings or not.

But, it is a glorified practice and their college heroes were on the field.

I think a lot of college FB fans put college loyalties ahead of their NFL faves. Some college fans will even switch or add another school to their cheer list due to high school allegiances. We can only guess at the numbers.
