Saw this last night - its basically a survey to come up with the top 50 black athletes excluding tiger woods, because you know, he doesn't count as an athlete because his marriage wasn't successful??? Not sure, exactly. They had separate rankings for "Dominance", "Impact on Society", and "Inspiration" and compiled them for an overall ranking.

This is the worst list I've ever seen.

When your top 50 black athletes list has Jim Brown ranked 30 (behind Steph Curry lol) and Bo Jackson ranked 25... you have a shitty list. Jim Brown is a HOF football player (maybe the best ever) and a HOF Lacrosse player and has been a major political/civil rights activist. He is top 5 easy.

Sort by "Dominance" and Wilt Chamberlain somehow misses the top 10?? WTF is that? The guy drug his dick all over the league for his entire career. "For his career Wilt averaged 30.1 points, 4.4 assists, and 22.9 rebounds....scored 30 points in 65 straight games, 50 points in seven consecutive games, and scored 100 points in a single game. "Wilt the stilt" was simply dominating. In two games Wilt had 78 points and 43 rebounds, then turns around and drops a 58 point, 42 rebound performance."

What do you expect from an ESPN owned operation.

Thoughts?

The published list is a joke. Nothing against Simone Biles and Gabby Douglas, but did anyone know who they were 4 years ago? And that's just for starters.....

Any list using "dominance, inspiration and impact on society" as ranking criteria and the top 10 doesn't include:

Ali, Jesse Owens, Henry Aaron, Satchel Paige, Wilma Rudolph, Jim Brown, Arthur Ashe, Roberto Clemente and Jackie Robinson is a complete farce. And I could easily add the Williams sisters just as Arthur Ashe belongs on the list for their accomplishments in the tennis world.

And there are a number of people on this list who weren't saints off the field, but to exclude Tiger Woods.... c'mon. I don't like the guy, but to ignore anything he's done is simply stupid.

Wow, that list is pretty random.  They put a bunch of track stars together JJK, Carl Lewis, and Michael Johnson.  Then they put Simone Biles and Gabby Douglas together.  And is Derrick Jeter black?  Do mix race people count?  (If so, where is Tiger Woods)?  Also do Roberto Clemente and Pele count? What is their criteria for black?  Just black skin?  Very confusing list.  I don't think much thought or effort went into this list.  It just seems like it was created to create controversy.

    • Best to see Icky in the position we drafted him in to see if he continues making progress. All signs point to Canales/Morgan staying on board and so decisions on whether to move him elsewhere on the line will probably be done during the offseason. Personally, I'm more concerned about a more long-term answer at safety and Moton's spot. Love the guy but he's a FA after 2026 and he'll be 32 by then. Kinda has that sign of having to let a player walk one year too early.
    • All I am saying is IMO if we were going to rework or extend his deal I think it would have happened by now.   Just feels like they are going to bite the bullet and let it run its course
    • I mean me speaking honestly per normal- RT is not even on my radar for needing fixing....it sorta should be, but I feel its around 20s in "hey this need attention". Motown could have another 5 years of solid play leftd in his body and mind. I know something needs to done with his contract, its had money pushed back into the late years like three times now. He got like a 38 million cap number cause rhule, frittterererer and this past season Dan deferred money.  I think he's been "healthy" for most of his career and seems to work hard at being able to play. He's a good player to have on the team. I got no idea how this plays out.   We need to have friendly bet about Christs next contract- I say he gets 8million per and 40% guaranteed. If he gets below that, you are the true kungfu master- deal?
