Falcons pull a Marty Hurney. Make Devonta Freeman highest paid RB in the League

Hahahaha what a terrible terrible decision by the falcants. He's extremely overrated and a lot of his production was because of workload and Shanahan last year (he was terribly inefficient his first two years). Should've let him walk after this year and rolled with Coleman. Massive bust of a signing.

In the last 2 seasons, dude has the following numbers:

2,140 rushing yards

127 receptions for 1,040 rec. yards

27 rush + receiving TD's

I'd say that's an extremely balanced weapon right there, can't even lie.....here's to hoping this is what CMC ends up doing for us

I hope his big payday fugs the falcons up just as much as the next Panthers fan bro, but he was a 1000 yard rusher and caught 73 passes his 2nd year....just sayin'

@nctarheel0619 definitely agree with you on the fact that he's god awful in pass protection though

He would have had to do it for another season before I paid him that. He's only going into his fourth year (and his rookie year doesn't even really count). He's good, but so are a lot of other backs (and maybe even Tevin Coleman).

This could be the resetting of the market. If Le' Bell (I just made that up) stays healthy this year, then there is no way he isn't getting paid higher than Freeman next season.

If CMC's ball comes close to the hype, then we'll be paying him handsomely in a few years. There's just no way to get around it.

He also rushed more times in that year.  Almost forty more times.  Don't necessarily think he is that good, and he is awful at pass protection.

? He rushed 38 times less in 2016 than in 2015 and had the best numbers of his career

I get people like to sh*t all over every move our rivals make but this was a must before the season started

Like I said, workload and situation. 1000 yards isn't all that difficult to get when your passing game is a huge huge strength and there's never stacked boxes. 73 passes for less than 600 yards... Inefficient despite being handed a huge role in Shanahan's system.

Whether it's the workload a player is given or if he's a "product of the system", I just don't know if I can call a guy that scored 14 TD's that season that inefficient

Meh, Coleman would've taken less money and he's just as good in my opinion.  He's got potential to be better actually.
