NextGen Stats On WR Russell Shepard Show A Really Impressive Guy

Well, if you aren't excited about Russell Shepard's potential on this team yet, you will be after seeing this.

Check out his NextGen stats:

So, Russell Shepard averaged 14.8 air yards per target and 11.7 per catch. He averaged 3.53 yards of separation lining up wide, leading all WRs who took 50% or more snaps lined up wide.

That's some nice looking stats. Shows Russell Shepard's route-running expertise, deep threat potential, and ability to gain separation well.

I've been pounding the table for Russell Shepard since we got him in March, and I think he will be a significant weapon this year. 

Don't sleep on Russell Shepard. Expect a lot of big things.

Maybe I just haven't been following it good enough, but it seemed like he hit the ground running early on in training camp... but I literally don't think I've heard hardly anything else about him this past week.  Basically ever since Cam stopped throwing.

He's still making great catches in space. It's actually become so routine that I started paying more attention to other receivers. Shepard is consistent and has great hands. In this offense, he has the potential to rack up the most yards. Think Ted Ginn with only 1/3 the drops and consistent separation. 

I'm very excited about the team's potential with him on it.

I've been excited about him too.  I think he just needed a chance at the spotlight and will make the most of his opportunity here.

That's awesome, Route running and separation go hand in hand, but both were sorely missing last season. And our main deep threat is now in NO. This guy could be a hell of a pick up.

There is no reason to believe Shepard can't be successful here just like Ginn and Philly Brown were.
