Schefter: Cam Won't Play Tomorrow But Will Play In Preseason

NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports Cam Newton (shoulder) "seems like he's gotten over the hump."

Per Rapsheet, Newton is "feeling better," and "should be back soon." Rapoport could just be reading the tea leaves, but this has been the feeling out of Panthers camp over the past few days. ESPN's Adam Schefter reported earlier Tuesday that Newton will play "at some point in the preseason."

This is good news. Hopefully it's true.

I'm guessing that they're targeting the 3rd pre season game for Cam to get some game reps. I doubt he will play 3 quarters like they usually do though.

Yep, my thoughts too. And he'll probably look awful because he usually looks awful during the preseason and then there will be pages upon pages of over-reactive poo posting to follow.

There's a lot of speculation he won't play at all during preseason, so I'm not sure it is that obvious.

He'll play in the 3rd game for sure..

Rivera above anything is always overprotective with injuries..

Cam not playing in pre-season is a mute point, let him rest up and ensure his shoulder heals properly and mitigate the chances of re-injuring said shoulder.  The alleged "evolved" offense wont be shown in pre-season games or open training camp practices (even if it does exist), let him focus on the theory of the offense.  Then allow everybody freak out how DA is no longer the best back up in the NFL, and since Cam isn't playing in pre-season he wont play until week 13.
