Today's injury update: Quarterback Cam Newton took a step forward with his sore shoulder, throwing some with team trainer Ryan Vermillion. He still hasn't thrown a pass to a teammate in practice since last Sunday, but coach Ron Rivera said Newton reported his shoulder felt good after throwing. He will be re-evaluated again on Monday morning. The good news is defensive tackle Kawann Short, left offensive tackle Matt Kalill and center Ryan Kalil were in pads and practiced. Short hadn't practiced all week because of a tight hamstring and Matt Kalil missed most of practice this past week with a groin injury.

Best play of camp: Several good options today. Second-year cornerback James Bradberry stepped in front of a sideline pass for a pick-6. On the next play, corner Daryl Worley almost picked off a pass intended for Devin Funchess. But the nod goes to wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin, who made a twisting, leaping catch for a touchdown during red zone drills. OK, so the 6-foot-5 Benjamin had to outleap 5-9 corner Captain Munnerlyn. But it still was a great catch and reminder of just how big of a red zone threat he can be.

Rookie report of camp: Christian McCaffrey lined up in the Wildcat today. Yet another way the Panthers are looking at keeping defenses off balance with the first-round pick out of Sanford. Coach Ron Rivera said after practice that McCaffrey is ahead of where you would expect a rookie to be, crediting McCaffrey's preparation as a big reason.

@Saca312 this may be a very interesting play for you to break down. definite adjustment at the line by the defense, then TD got a hand on the ball it looks like and moved it enough to interfere with Funchess' catch, which tipped it up for Worley to pounce on. Good heads up play by the defense

You don't think a similar line of thinking goes with Samuel's hammy injury? I'd rather coach him along and plug him in when physically ready. It's not like we are going to cut or PS-stash a 2nd round pick.

How has Gilbert looked at QB?

I daresay he's been better than Anderson, but definitely worse than Webb.

Looked to me that it was Keuk who got the tip, followed by Adams with the pick. Although, to be fair, my view isn't the best not being there. But I would think Worley would be outside, working the side, and the interception looked to come from the safety spot.

I agree though, this would be a good thing to break down, due to the adjustment and coverage being in the right spots.
