Preseason Game 1 VS Texans - Who Should I Focus On?

In about less than a week, the Panthers face the Texans in their first preseason game of 2017. It's the first time the Panthers get to face off against another NFL defense playing at an in-game level. Although playcalling and schemes will be at a basic level, it does give insight into some of our rookies and other guys competing for roster spots.

@Jeremy Igo presented me with an opportunity to write for the carolinahuddle's front page. With that, he told me to do something about the first preseason game. So, I decided to let you guys decide what I should do and focus on.

The plan is to be as objective as possible, and highlight both strengths and weaknesses of whatever subject is chosen.

Mike Adams.   If our back end plays like it did last year, we are fugged. Hopefully Adams can be efficient enough to allow Coleman to stay at his natural position all season and the two can hold down the back end.

Focus on this new evolution of an offense we're supposed to have...play calling etc, even if it is vanilla.

I'd keep in mind things that we've seen during training camp and see whether they translate into the preseason game. Do leave room for anything unexpected that happens in-game, positive or negative.

Saca, are you doing a pre-game write-up or post-game write-up?

If pre-game, it might be interesting to focus on potential match ups that we can use to help evaluate how our guys are playing.  I.e. what are the most challenging likely match-ups.  We all know about JJ Watt, but who else on the Texans might pose a challenge to our offense or defense?

But of course, it's so hard to know whether either team will play their starters much, so this may be a tall order.

Post-game:  some highlights of key play-makers, what players showed up positively or negatively on film...

I feel like Shepard is going to impress regardless and already has some history/film in the league...  these guys above still have to go out there and prove it.

Post-game's the plan. I could write-up a pre-game one as a forum post though.
