Yahoo NFL Power Rankings: Panthers number 10? WOW.

10. Carolina Panthers
Cam Newton, coming off shoulder surgery, had some soreness in that shoulder and the Panthers eased back on him in practice this week. That doesn’t seem like a huge deal this far from Week 1, but it could be a very big deal if we’re still hearing stories like this out of Charlotte in a couple weeks.

NFC South teams:

19. New Orleans Saints
The updates on rookie running back Alvin Kamara out of camp have been interesting. He’s splitting out wide on occasion, and coach Sean Payton even dropped a Marshall Faulk comparison. The Saints really wanted Kamara, trading a 2018 second-round pick to take him in the third round. I’m not sure where he fits in with Mark Ingram and Adrian Peterson already there, but he’s someone to watch this month.

14. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The Buccaneers said Doug Martin isn’t guaranteed his job back when he returns from serving the final three games of his suspension, but I think that’s a motivational ploy. Jacquizz Rodgers is a good player but he’s not the guy you want as your tailback for 250-300 carries.

3. Atlanta Falcons
A lot of talk early in camp centered around running back Devonta Freeman’s contract. Freeman wants to get paid, and he’s a fantastic player. The Falcons are in a tough spot. They have a good backup in Tevin Coleman, and expensive, long-term deals with tailbacks often don’t work out. But Freeman is a big part of what they do on offense.

High at this point, but also about right.  Anyone with a brain can see the talent on this team, and how "easy" it would be to return to playoff form.

I mean, off the top of my head looking at last year...

Cam played hurt, injuries all around the OL, Kuechly, etc., offense completely out of whack, the rookie secondary, the kicking woes (costing us at least a game or two), the loss of MVP Andy Lee, coaching miscues...and holy hell, we were still in most games, if not leading them only to blow it.

A lot of problems listed that have, or can be easily fixed.  Will we still have some? Of course, and new ones. But last year's team was better than it's 6-10 record. Hell, a lot of analytics or sites, I know FiveThirtyEight for example, had us listed as a Top 10-12 team throughout the year.

If we get lucky and only have to deal with minor issues/injuries, this is a 10-6 team.  If things click? We're 1st round bye worthy.

Bruh.. Only thing more meaningless than regular season power rankings are preseason ones

Bruh, it's the Preseason.  Who cares?  Would you rather read about McCaffrey's testicles being stroked by the Panthers beat writers some more?  How about how Kelvin doesn't look good?  Sorry I posted something that's different from those two subjects.

I remember going through our 2015 season power rankings and start watching us inch up slowly from the bottom to the top.

It took a while, but was humorous all the way

Just for giggles.. our losses last year...

Week 1 - Denver - - - Gano. Hell, even if no timeout is called, he makes the first one and we win.

Week 3 - Minnesota - Winning in the 3rd quarter, but the offense can't score after the 1st.

Week 4 - Atlanta - Julio Game...let's not discuss. Also, Cam is concussed.

Week 5 - Tampa - Lost by 3, with Anderson starting. Bucs make a last second FG to win.

Week 6 - NO - Gano has some miscues (an extra point), Cam leads the offense to tie the game, and NO hits a FG in the last seconds.

Week 10 - Kansas City - We're up 17, the game KB gets stripped WITH 20 SECONDS LEFT to set up the Chiefs kicking a FG to win as time expires.

Week 12 - Oakland - 3 point Oakland win, after we actually fought back (Carr was injured)

Week 13 - Seattle - Beatdown from the moment Tolbert tipped a pass to Seattle on the 1st fuging play.

Week 16 - Atlanta - Meh...Atlanta was better last year.

Week 17 - Tampa Bay - Olsen drops the 2 pt conversion that could've won...a battle for draft position.

By my count, five losses by 3 points or less. Some we lost missing kicks. Some we gave up kicks or big plays at the very end. A few of those losses, we were in control for the offense to fade or not show up in general, giving no relief to the tiring defense with rookies on the back end.  How many times were we soundly beat last year? A couple?

To me, we were an average football team last year with a lot of bad luck. Even if we're average again, revert back to the median a bit with luck, injuries, etc. and the "worst case" is 8-8 or so. Hell, we were a .500 team in last year's train-wreck of a season after the BYE playing a much tougher schedule.

i still remember the moment the media could no longer pretend the Panthers werent the best team in the league. Sunday night. Patriots at Broncos. Overtime game. and Brock fugging Osweiler leads the horseys to a clutch victory that makes the Panthers the last unbeaten in the league. the power rankings the following Tuesday were a fugging delicious read. lemme see if i can find a link to that article.

FUG THEM ALL lol. the media tears were delicious that day, having to make a small market team with a black QB that flaunted his greatness in the face of his opposition the #1 team.
