I might purchase it---can you stream Red Zone package from NFL.com? Would be nice to simultaneously watch on my Surface while watching Panthers games (in their entirety).

I just flip from HDMI 1 to HDMI 2 on my television.  I have Red Zone up on the PS4 all day.  HAHA.

NFL is cutting back the number of commercial breaks this year but making them longer so the ad time doesn't decrease. Also supposed to do some split screen where they will go to commercial but half the screen will remain on the game. Getting rid of a lot of the in game ads like "Tune in tonight for 60 minutes after the game".

Hard to find a balance between viewing experience and ads when so much revenue is generated from the commercials. I'll just be glad if the get rid of the touch back commercial. The one where they go to commercial after a TD, comeback to show the kickoff, touch back, and right back to commercial again.

That's why I have gamepass ,I don't even use the damn TV anymore unless its a social occasion. If I'm by myself I watch games on the computer . I have an ass work schedule that has me working on weekends so I usually watch recordings of games when i get back from work on Sundays and Mondays.

Some of you guys would believe anything you read. This chart CANNOT be accurate.

You believe there are more shots of players standing around than legit game action per broadcast? I think they probably show the crowd and cheerleaders more than they do players standing around.

Get this crap out of here.

Yes.  Players are technically standing around before the snap.  If a team consistently lets the play clock run down to almost zero (we seem to have a problem with that because of getting plays called in time) and then a quick run up the middle takes 4 seconds... that's a lot more shots of players standing around than actual game action.

Totally worth it to me, think it's only like 50 bucks for the season.

I don't even have cable, and really don't miss it. I'll see the highlights eventually, and scores are updated everywhere. Now I will flip to the other channel on occasion if there's a team I'm interested in, but commercials are practical breaks for me. I usually check scores, discuss the game, and do other things during commercials. I rarely look at them.

You don't need cable to have Red Zone.........just FYI.  Or Sunday Ticket, for that matter.

That's still technically part of the game action and no one complains about that. No one ever turns another channel waiting for the ball to be set after a first down.

It's actually not even close - in a 3 hour game, there is only 11 minutes of action.

http://www.businessinsider.com/chart-nfl-television-broadcast-2014-11

A study by the Wall Street Journal in 2010 showed that an average NFL game has just 11 minutes of actual action based on the amount of time the ball is actually in play. While a lot of other things do go on in between plays, that leaves a lot of time that networks must fill during a typical 3-hour broadcast.

Well, according to Vox.com, most of that time is spent just showing players standing around and doing nothing. During one recent NFL game, the network broadcast spent 35% of the game showing players just standing around. That would be approximately 64 minutes of inaction during a typical game. Another 24.5% of the broadcast was dedicated to commercials, meaning more than half of the game is either commercials or players standing around.
