By The Time Camp Ends, Could Kelvin Benjamin Be Giving The Title Of #1 WR To Someone Else?

Somewhat discouraging but then again, having to constantly go up against Bradberry (and probably Worley at this juncture) can be deflating.

IMO, KB is a gamer. Beyond that, he's a guy who feeds on success. As long as things are going well and he's getting his targets, his effort level will be high. When the ball stops coming his way, he starts half assing it. If KB had high drive, I have little doubt he could be an elite NFL receiver. But, at this point I think we have to accept him for who he is. He's a guy who has the potential to be great but he'll likely always just be good. I just hope when contract negotiation time comes we keep that in mind. If we can keep him for "good" money, great. If he wants "great" money, best of luck elsewhere.

Please stop the madness. If you're judging KB off of a couple of plays in camp it's complete insanity. The guy has had a fine camp. He's not tourching it like he's done in the past, but he looks good. He's also going against Bradberry every rep who is also looking good.

This happened right in front of me - it was incredible and the video doesn't do it justice. The coverage was near perfect - KB went up and grabbed it right over Bradberry. For every play like Saca has posted gif of there are 8-10 of these kind of plays. KB is fine

Funchess will never be better than Kelvin, the sooner you accept that the better.

To quote Captain " Me personally, and I never talk like this, but I don’t think he is that good, No. 17. So, we weren’t really worried about him"

Cam will continue to target Kelvin

KB hasn't had the dominating camp as he did the last two season. He just has not made as many plays. As others pointed out, could be that Bradberry is a beast and once Kelvin is being covered by lesser corners on other teams he will come back to life.

But he's also not going against Cason, a pre-JNo Norman, or two rookies in their first week of NFL football. He and Bradberry have been a fun battle to watch. And it's been a battle.

People trying to make a correlation between the first 5 days of camp and a season performance are silly anyway.

Ignoring his lackluster 2016 and lack of effort on multiple plays is the silly thing to do.

Added together with his less than stellar camp so far, it could indicate a shift.

I'm not ignoring his just below 1000 yard 2016 season. But in this thread we're talking strictly about his camp performance. The good news is those things don't get added together. Do we add Cam's lackluster 2016 performance with what we've seen from him in camp? You're not accounting for Funchess' 2016 lackluster performance when you're saying there "could be a shift" and he could take over KB's spot, are you?

OP made this thread trying to convince readers that KB is playing poorly in camp, and that simply isn't true. At all.

Olsen is the #1 target so this debate is pointless.   Now who's the better wr is a legitimate debate but that will be settled hopefully as the season plays out.  Of the two my money is on Fun Fun if Shula doesn't Shula and Cam stops force feeding KB.

Not poorly, but no where near as dominant as years past.

Also, Shula, Cam, and Kelvin no longer spend time at practice together away from the team running their own drills. I think that is significant.

Looks to me like the new offense will have less emphasis on KB and more on spreading the ball around like in 2015.
