Luke wouldn't have made the tackle. He barely got his fingertips from behind CMC. Luke recovering after that was impressive, but he still was beat thoroughly.

No doubt it probably would've been a breakaway run.

not quite sure about that. He was able to put a hand on his jersey as CmC was running away. in full contact, luke is a simple dive at his feet away from tripping him up.

of course, not 100% clear cut, but I'm like 90% sure he makes that tackle.

Now that I look at it again, it's probable he could've tackled him diving. Would be awfully close though.

The thing about change if direction is that you also have to know when to change direction, and that decision has to be made in a fraction of a blink of an eye.

There are plenty of guys who have the physical ability to change direction who just can't get the timing down.

When you have the whole package, you're a tough guy to tackle.

Um, did I read that correctly?

Luke Kuechly's the best coverage linebacker in the league by far. That is by far his strength.

This. However, pretty much every 4-3 LB is "weakest" in terms of coverage skills when you compare to tackling, vision, gap control, blitzing ect. Maybe that's what he was getting at?

True, Luke IS the best coverage lb in the league, but even Luke admits his run defense is his strength (WFNZ interview yesterday in fact, he said just this.).  And relatively speaking the drill DOES heavily favor the offense, so I can understand why someone would say that the drill played to CMC's strength & Luke's weakness.

This actually is awesome because it shows how good they both are.  It's impressive Luke was able to catch his ankles midair and remain in the play.

Absolutely.  This is why so many of us have been waiting so anxiously to see these camp battles between CMC & Luke.  What an amazing opportunity for both to practice against elite talent.  It's going to make us better on both O & D.  Heck, some folks who've been at Camp have said Stew seems to be making cuts they don't remember seeing him make in recent years.  Got to think CMC is rubbing off on some of our other guys as they see his cuts & watch his routes.  Of course you need to have the talent too, but he's showing them what can be done, and perhaps motivating them to try harder,  Love it.
