Superhuman McCaffrey Stops Time And Jukes Out A Cyborg

I'm not really concerned about his elusiveness or his speed, I just want to see him take some serious NFL caliber hits and see how he responds. Dude is muscular and very lean but still pretty lightweight, I'm sure Rueben Foster's going to be salivating at the chance to put licks on him at game 1. Say what you want about the 49ers but that dline and LB group don't look like cupcakes to me.

As for comparisons, the NFL.com official scouting page for him lists Tiki Barber as his comparison .  I think McCaffrey basically looks like a poor man's Lesean McCoy though, not as fast though. When McCoy hits holes he's just gone and his cuts look sharper and more decisive than McCaffrey's as well. If he ends up being as good as Shady and stays healthy we hit the jackpot. McCoy has gained at least 1000 yards in 5 out of 8 seasons , at least 800 yards in 7 out of 8 seasons, and has 8954 rush yards total. And the cool thing is he's officially listed at 210, McCaffrey is probably only a few pounds under that , 210 - 215 is probably ideal

Gettleman compared his between the tackle running abiity to Curtis Martin .. McCaffrey has good vision but I'm not sure if its on the level of a Curtis Martin, Barry Sanders, or Marshall Faulk , who all ran like they could see 360 around them at all times. This is the hall of fame tier of backs that are simular to mccaffrey in skillset but I don't think Cmac is anywhere near their level. But I'll gladly eat my crow if he is.

Yea that was also an old ass Drayton Florence. Hard to believe he was our starting corner at one time. Still a nice run however. OH and I also spot a FUA!!!

#the pulling Guard set the play up with his counter punch, otherwise TD would have met him at the line of scrimmage.

It's clear that neither player is going 100%, and as Jeremy said, TD is not looking for the tackle.  But he did bite hard to the outside, then CMC cut inside for a good gain.   Even at 100%, TD wouldn't have been able to recover in time to stop McCaffrey...his momentum had already taken him out of the play.

But this is no shade on TD since I expect we will see this happen to LB's many times throughout the season...it's somewhat of a hallmark of McCaffrey's.  And he did the same thing to Luke as well, so rather than worrying about the defender, I think we need to celebrate the fact that CMC is able to fool two of the most instinctive and athletic LB's in the NFL on his first day of padded practice.  Seems to be a great sign of things to come.

A superhuman vs. a cyborg.

Who wins?

In the battle of the supernatural, McCaffrey and TD work against each other in a 1v1 matchup. Cam Newton throws the dumpoff to CMC, and the match vs. these supernatural beings commences. Not an easy matchup for anyone, unless you're superhuman like McCaffrey.

Let's watch that again in slow motion:

McCaffrey calls upon his superhuman ability to distort time and space to his advantage, freezing Thomas Davis in his space. To do that to a cyborg of TD's caliber is no easy feat, but CMC makes it look like clockwork.

Man, week 1 can't come fast enough.

Week 1 can come fast enough. Next thing you know you'll look up and it will be his 6th training Camp.

I feel like I'm watching Lesean Mccoy. I still have nightmares of this run 5829257632942610_6fc0e34ff72344e2d478df5

that juke he does at the ~23 yard line to get around TD's pursuit angle is one of the sickest jukes i've ever seen live. just stupendous agility.
