Remmers, and before him Nate Chandler, were two of the all time worst Panthers players at any position.

The Remmers part is a big overstatement.

People tend to forget that he came off the street late in the 2014 season and stabilized the offensive line (didn't allow a sack if I remember correctly).

I would say he overperformed as a guy who had previously bounced around practice squads. He's a backup quality tackle and it wasn't his fault Gettleman didn't find a better option during his time here.

Problem is we also did the same thing with Nate Chandler.

I get what you're saying, but acting as if Rivera was just doing all this on his own is pretty far fetched, and this attempt to wash Gettleman's hands of it is rather silly.

I'll grant that Chandler got more chances than he deserved, but trying to saddle Gettleman with Fua is a huge stretch.

It's pretty well known that Fua was one of the "try hard" players that Rivera always spoke highly of, but he didn't last long under new management.

I will say that Remmers is much better than Chandler. Remmers would be very low on the worst list, and Chandler would near the top imo. Remmers sometimes couldn't even touch a pass rusher out wide, he pass blocked like someone shrunk his arms a foot before right before the game started, he appeared to have half the strength a man his size should have, and out in space he would miss run blocks so badly that he looked like a confused bull trying to hit a matador. Even with all that he would still be near the bottom because he could usually stay up right and be a fat corpse in the way of a big muddled mess.
