Guess who thought it was a solid idea to sign Fua back after we had already supposedly moved on, and try him on the OL of all places?

Hint: It wasn't Marty Hurney.

Yeah... Except that's not actually true.

Fua was released in the first cuts of Gettleman's first offseason.  He was brought back after week one because of an injury (and probably at Rivera's suggestion) but as a defensive tackle.

He didn't get switched to the offensive line until the first week of November, which in all likelihood was a last ditch attempt by Rivera to find a spot for him because he was cut a week later.

He was active as a reserve in 3 games for us but generated no stats. After we cut him, he was signed by Denver (again as a DT)and went to the Super Bowl with them, the one where the Seahawks destroyed them.

Rivera tried to use the same strategy to keep Charles Godfrey employed. Didn't work there either.

If we win a Super Bowl this year I'll move on. Until then I will wonder if we had done more for the OL in 2015 it might have been enough for our offense to best duck throwing Peyton Manning who was a shell of himself at that point.

Come at me bro.

oh ok so it's okay to not move on from former talent as long as we're bashing a thered approved franchise punching bag

for someone who keeps talking about how ppl should move on from gettleman, you sure like to talk about how much you hated what he did here.

Yeah, I noticed that.

But people who believe in their own superiority inevitably give themselves exceptions not provided to the peons.

Oh look at this, another thread on Matt Kalil that turns into a pissing match between bitter people living in the past? You don't say? We really need to get over ourselves or this place will devolve into only "I told you so" arguments. It's already freaking started and it's only been a few days of training camp.

There is only one poster who keeps starting this crap over and over. It's not hard to figure out who it is if you read the comments.

Problem is we also did the same thing with Nate Chandler.

I get what you're saying, but acting as if Rivera was just doing all this on his own is pretty far fetched, and this attempt to wash Gettleman's hands of it is rather silly.

Let me ask you a question straight up.

Do you think we did enough for the OL since Gross left?

It's a simple yes or no question.

If you answer yes, then I guess Super Bowls don't matter to you. Which is ironic because for the last week you've been ranting about TD and Olsen and how JR is just wanting to make the Panthers a franchise where no one's feelings get hurt and all the players are overpaid, meanwhile you're flooding the place with love letter posts about our former GM.

Day one reactions are to be expected. By now you would expect we would learn to not put so much stock in to them. We likely will never learn.

Two years ago the sky was falling regarding the offense and the whole Dolphins joint practice fiasco. We had the top scoring offense in the league that year. Judgement and debate fodder fuels participation but it doesn't care about realistic reporting.

A sports writer described Chandler's pass blocking style as "turning into a pillar of ash upon initial contact and disintegrating." He wasn't wrong.
I once described Remmers as looking like he was suffering from vertigo out of the field. I still think he has undiagnosed vertigo.

And this is why I love the huddle[emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]

Does this make you feel better about losing SB50 in large part because our OL was swiss cheese? Does it make you feel better about the 2016 season where we proceeded to literally do nothing about said OL, and shockingly we then only won 6 games while watching our franchise QB get beaten to a pulp?

That's a really sad mindset you've got there chief.

Gettleman is gone. Everyone but you has moved forward. Get back on board the Panthers train with the rest of us there sport.

Gettleman is gone but so far any move we've made has resulted in half the huddle chiming in about how much Hurney sucks. That sound like moving on to you?
