A sports writer described Chandler's pass blocking style as "turning into a pillar of ash upon initial contact and disintegrating." He wasn't wrong.

I once described Remmers as looking like he was suffering from vertigo out of the field. I still think he has undiagnosed vertigo.

Both were legitimately good dudes, but were simply atrocious at playing OL. The fact that either of them stuck around as long as they did is a really harsh indictment of our FO.

It's a minor miracle that Cam's knees weren't destroyed from Chandler being thrown into them. Pure luck. We should never have offensive lineman that bad ever again, but you know it's only a matter of time.

I didn't want Gettleman fired, he did a lot of good for us. But I will not be able to ever forgive him and Ron for the lackluster effort of addressing our OL since Gross made his exit. I think they both cost us a Super Bowl frankly. But homers are gonna homer here on the huddle.

Remmers, and before him Nate Chandler, were two of the all time worst Panthers players at any position.

That's really not true. If you want to think about Haruki Nakamura, Sione Fua, Jimmy Clausen, Eric Shelton, Graham Gano, Sean Gilbert. My number 1 goes to Rae Caruth and my number 2 to Jason Peter( yeah I've always been a fan.) Honorable mention....Armanti Edwards.

I really wouldn't even put Chandler or Remmers in that conversation

It's my opinion. Nate Chandler was the worst starting OT I have ever seen. Not putting him on a worst list wouldn't make any sense to me.

Sione Fua and Byron Bell were worse.

If you look at what happened after Chandler left the Panthers, and compare it to what happened to Bell when he left, you can see which player other teams thought was better. Not to mention Bell looked better than Chandler but that's just my opinion.

Guess who thought it was a solid idea to sign Fua back after we had already supposedly moved on, and try him on the OL of all places?

Hint: It wasn't Marty Hurney.

Signed a coach favorite, but was cut a couple months later and had no real impact due to the logjam at DT which included rookies Star and Short who were drafted by the same GM not named Marty Hurney also who never attempted to improve the DT position while he was GM.

Does this make you feel better about losing SB50 in large part because our OL was swiss cheese? Does it make you feel better about the 2016 season where we proceeded to literally do nothing about said OL, and shockingly we then only won 6 games while watching our franchise QB get beaten to a pulp?

That's a really sad mindset you've got there chief.

Chandler is also a guy that got converted from DT to T by the coaches.  The fact that he played DT in the NFL (and was actually better at that position) as well as T means at the very least the guy possesed some football intelligence.
