Christian McCaffrey in pass protection

Well at least McCaffrey has this going for him.. the most successful white RB in recent memory (Ex. Payton Hillis, Mike Alstott ) And even famous ones from yesteryear (Czonka, Riggins) were all damn power backs. So if McCaffrey will be a shifty fast one instead .. that makes him even more unique of a player. yeah i sound like one of those ignorant youtube commenters, but you get what I'm trying to say.

He'll improve with training and technique work.  But at best, he'll still probably only be a cut block/get in your way blocker.  However, as an announcer said during a Stanford game "why would you keep a weapon such as McCaffrey in to block? You want him out there as a threat making plays."  That would be like using your brand new Lamborghini to pull your camper on vacation.

Sure, there will be times he needs to stay in to block, but probably 90-95% of the time he is in the game he'll be used as a weapon or diversion.

Today was the first day to observe Christian McCaffrey in pass protection drills. Lined up 1 on 1 versus a Linebacker of safey, CMC's job was to keep them away from the "quarterback".

He didn't do so well against the linebackers. Out muscled my Mayo and just out played by Cash.

McCaffrey did far better against the safety McCray, someone more his size.

This is a starting point for McCaffrey. The goal will not be to improve on this as camp continues on into the preseason. He won't reach his full potential as far as playing time until the coaching staff is confident in his pass blocking.
