Silotolu is our second LT. would you prefer for him to be number 1 with some scrub even worse as the number 2? It's possible the other guys mentioned here weren't even possibilities.

Yes, it's the darndest thing. Ever since Gross retired, for some reason we haven't been able to acquire an acceptable replacement. It's just been impossible. It's the darndest thing.

Well, please show me the hard data where every team in the league has a franchise LT or QB or WR or DE/DT or LB or DB.

It's incredibly hard.

The "franchise" variation of the old, tired you-think-every-team-in-the-league-has-a-probowler argument.

Yet the top contenders seem to figure out a way year in and year out. But we've got to annually accept this guy:

Look I see people's mouths moving, explaining his contract and the LT market, blah blah blah, but there were more astute moves to be made if what you were going for is Not-Byron-Bell-or-Average-LT-Guy.

Whitworth was better IMO. Okung was a better bet IMO. Reiff was a better bet IMO.

A guess most Whitworth supporters dont know this-  He never practiced during the season due to knee/back/age. He basically just shows up for Friday walkthroughs. OL mainly LT is just in a weird spot due to college rules in regards to practice and vast usage of the spread offense. Most OL never gets in a 3 point stance!! Thus makes a crazy market as MANY just able bodied LT just got 15 million per, including matt kalil. That said Dave got in his minivan, put in a whole Skoal can, set the cruise control on 95 to Atlantic city, pulled up to the casino, and put 25 million on 75 panther blue.

As I pointed out yesterday, teams like The Patriots and Packers have, but it goes back to coaching, not elite personnel at every position.

We got lucky by landing a franchise QB and LB, and pro bowler caliber players like Star, Olsen, Turner, TD, Short, Kalil, Shaq, Nowell, Stewart, and possibly now Bradberry and McCaffrey.

The chances of us landing an above average talent at LT are slim but if we can get a solid one like Oher then we'll be extremely fortunate.

We purportedly have one of the best line coaches in the business. So if it "goes back to coaching..."

[Gettleman signing Matt Kalil unimpressive in first two days]: We have to give him time, free agency is a process and it's a tough thing to do. It was still a smart deal

[Hurney supposedly moves Hurney pick Silatolu to backup LT]: HURNEY IS RUINING THIS FOOTBALL TEAM I CANNOT STAND FOR THIS RIDICULOUSNESS

Self reportedly. He has never had much tackle talent to work with but it's not like he has worked wonders. It's like the Ricky P talk. He was HOT coach in people's minds. Everything made sense but the outcome

We have to stay calm that our high-priced LT with major skill concerns may not be off to a good start, which could be ominous

OH MY GOD HURNEY FIRED MARK KONCZ, GUARANTEED 0-16, THE FRANCHISE IS DOOMED, WORSE THAN THE BROWNS

Fact Check:

Hey he made a good play, MVP-caliber if I ever saw it

Now let's see if Amini does something right if we'll get backpedaling from that, too
