Matt Kalil Concerns

Practice one is in the books, and I am not at all reassured about Matt Kalil. Typically with non padded practice, the offensive tackles have the advantage as the defensive ends can't fight through as much. That didn't appear to be the case yesterday with Kalil.

Mario Addison got around him and to Cam Newton instantly in more than one instance. The only time Addison was at bay was when Kalil was chipped by Dickson. Kalil really struggled to get wide enough to stop Super Mario quickly enough.

The speed rush was always his biggest issue. Lets hop that this is just a starting point and not an indication of whats to come.

You realize I've been saying this was the worst signing in franchise history and people try to defend the guy right?  This dude is horrble, ask any viking fan, watch any full game that he played... all the pressure comes from the left, they push him aside like he's nothing. Cam is gonna have another bad year of rushed throws, it's sad.

It is just the first day, not sure that I would be making assumptions this early about anything, kinda like the whole silly fat KB stuff. Would much rather see what he looks like in the preseason before I start sounding the alarms, and he was a FA for a reason, probowl LTs are like franchise QBs they don't go anywhere!

This story worries me. Clearly this tells us that JR's other "sons" - GO and TD - was indirectly the cause of DG's firing. Makes me think - Is Matt Kallil now a Panther with a lucrative contract just because RK also has "son" status, he lobbied JR, and DG was forced to open the wallet? To fulfill JR's romantic dream about the brothers playing on the same line? First I was stoked about the transfer, and us finaly getting set at LT for years to come - now I'm not so sure if the talent realy is there...Hope I'm wrong and MK will turn out to be the best LT we ever had.

And don't even get me started on Bersin why he is still arround.

Lol - just posted this in the other SS thread. You are adding to my worries Mr. Igo...

    • The problem with Tmac im almost certain he will go top 5 and I can't see either Jacksonville or New England passing him up.   I think in a perfect world we draft either Tmac or Hunter, but they interviewed Prime on Speak today and he said he will have a say in where Sanders and Hunter play. So I'm not even sure if Hunter is a option now lol.
    • Trading Deontae was 100% the right call, as he's not a #1 either and we weren't going to re-sign him, but we still got an awful return for him (thankfully the Mingo trade made up for it). And yes, we need that smaller shifty WR, but we also need a true outside #1 as neither XL or Coker are that. That's why I think T-Mac is a perfect fit for us in the early 1st round as that outside #1, Coker and XL could both play on the other outside and in the slot, and find a small shifty WR to work from the slot too, with Sanders, Brooks, and now Hubbard with the extension, plus our OL, is an offense that can succeed with a good game manager type of QB and not need a superstar.
    • Put the pipe down. You are what your record says you are. They need talent and a lot of it. Brown is set but he can use upgrades all around him. ARob is fine but a short timer so competition is needed as a hedge against him chasing money next year. They need a bunch of LBs. Jewell is stopgap and Shaq is losing a step. He's the smartest of the group but he can no longer hang with a TE. They are playing harder yes, but it's due to grit and pride more than skill. They are finally getting tired of getting their asses kicked. Unfortunately for them the beatings will continue until moral improves.
