unverified report: gettleman cut steve smith because in 2013 he punched cam newton in the face twice in the locker room after practice

Steve Smith's name is immediately always met with disdain here, which may or may not be justified, it depends on whether you actually care about people getting assaulted, or just pretend to years later I guess. But either way, for all the disdain 89 receives, people sure like to use him for quick clicks here. Pretty ironic.

I'm having trouble following his logic as well.   It seems if you don't worship who he says you should worship you're a terrible fan.  It's a shame we're not all super fans like Red.

The ire for Shula is a bit of a different dynamic, don't you think? You're talking about a coach, and one whose performance has been questioned consistently.

If you guys want an honest no bullshit discussion about Steve Smith, I will be glad to converse in good faith. But I'm not going to sit here and pat someone on the head when they are trying to convince me and everyone else how bad of a person Steve Smith is when they were still gleefully cheering on his erratic behavior on the field even well after he sucker punched Ken Lucas. I've seen Lucas's name mentioned countless times here since 89 was released. But when did you see him mentioned at any point before that, other than when that happened?

From my perspective, just looking back at 89 through the years, I think it's clear that time will not be kind to him in regards to his legacy. His high level of play on the field, and his brash personality were both a gift and a curse for him. Hopefully as he gets older he looks to make amends, and serve as an example for other WR's entering the league of what not to do, and how to conduct yourself, and not let anger derail you.

*Comes into a Steve Smith thread. Complains about people talking about Steve Smith*

Sounds legit.

People have ridiculed you here numerous times over the years for your lengthy posts with them tharrrrrr big words, and what they consider to be moral posturing.

But now you're going to turn around, and do the same thing?

Weak sauce my man.

His logic is simple. He blindly worships all players past and present. For the most part, I'm with him because I think a lot of players take too much unwarranted abuse on here. But if you have someone like Philly (who never poo posts) saying something about Steve (who has a history), then maybe there's something there. Where there's smoke, there's fire and there's been a lot of smoke with smitty

If you think my last few posts have been complimentary of Steve Smith, you might need to look again champ.
