As much as I don't want to believe it, I think you are right. I have heard stories from a friend who lived in Smith's neighborhood and said that he was an outright dick. I always dismissed it as hearsay yada yada but I am starting to believe it.

I heard it from a friend who heard it from a friend, who heard it from another friend that all/none of this is true.  :)

 

Personally, I think if this had really happened, it would have come out a couple of years ago.  People love to talk to much.  So until it is confirmed, I will file this under just another baseless rumor that will eventually become fact in the minds of some.
