I don't know how often Bersin wasn't targeted because he failed to get separation, or was otherwise not an option via his own fault, but I know this: Far more often than not, when his number was called and the ball thrown his way, it was money. Return skills, or lack thereof aside, I don't get all the hate. If he was two inches taller and thirty pounds heavier, he'd damn sure be a better #2 TE than anyone else we've had on the roster since Shockey. I know he came in through the back door, but the guy does have hands and seems to run good routes, which is more than you can say for some guys we've had during the same time period. If he got six or seven targets a game ten or more games in a year, I kind of doubt a lot of the general attitude about him would be nearly as prevalent.
