I read the book based on a recommendation here... I would advise everyone else to do the same, and then go see the movie when it comes out.

People that haven't read the book are already complaining that it is just a movie that references other movies, lol.

The book itself had a lot of 80s nostalgia and that's what made it run. Even the plot was classic 80s-90s storyline. Hoping it's good but I can definitely see it become fully cringe depending on direction and interpretation.

Held off watching this until now because I was so close to the end of the book.

 

Looks pretty cool but I don't know how happy I am about some things I see in the trailer.

I'm assuming all/most of the key and gate challenges have been swapped out for some of the high action sequences.

I'm assuming that the presence of The Iron Giant means no Ultraman

Looked at the casting and where the hell is Aech?

 

Ill see it for sure but I think I'm going to miss some of the things I really enjoyed about the book.

One of the best books of the last decade, should make a great movie with Spielberg behind it.

And the Iron Giant was part of the book, I wouldn't rule out Ultraman at all...
