I love TD, he's one of my favorite players of all time. But don't be "irked" when people connect the obvious dots. 

 

Was TD the sole reason Gettleman was fired? No. Was he the final straw? Almost certainly.

I think Olsen was moreso the final straw. Gettleman was actually working on a deal for TD.

Either way...they both had some influence on JR's decision, without a doubt.

There's a very simple way for reporters to "solve" the TD/Greg rumors.

Ask both TD and Greg this question: "Did you or your agent "go over David Gettleman's head" and directly mention or discuss the status of a new contract with Carolina Panther's owner Jerry Richardson?"

Yes.

Or no.

If the answer is "yes" then, yes, TD/Greg... you ARE in part responsible for the dismissal of David Gettleman.

If the answer is "no" then, no, you bear no personal responsibility in the least for the dismissal of David Gettleman.

The above is written in no way to cast a value judgement on Gettleman's dismissal, that's a totally separate issue (of which many of you already know how I feel).  Its merely to make clear the case of what might have happened prior to Gettleman's dismissal.

Now the question for fans is what do YOU believe?  Did TD or Olsen (or both) or their agents "jump the chain of command" and have a personal talk with Daddy Jerry?  Or did they keep it "strictly business" between player/agent/GM?  

It would be interesting to hear the answers if the above question were asked.
