Funchess has always played his best when playing in Benjamins role, but when both of them are on the field together it just doesn't mesh. Versus the Saints last season, Funchess is held to one catch and then Benjamin goes to the sideline and Devin catches a 25 yard TD on a beautiful route.

This.

I never understood the logic of drafting a Funchess while we already had benjamin. Should have drafted a WR with a totally different skillset to make the offense more diverse .  You draft a slow big WR that don't get great seperation, you draft another one, wtf are you expecting to happen if they are both on the field at the same time at the outside WR spots?  And we may be seeing this problem linger throughout this season as well.

Tbh I think he has more upside than KB.

We'll see how he works out. I'm optimistic.

I don't see this as a slam on KB. KB is a big, lumbering WR with a massive catch radius. He is built to get into the endzone, post up and dominate for a TD. His game isn't about outrunning a DB, or precision routes. He's our Charles Barkley and he'll be great if we don't try to treat him like Michael Jordan. He wins a spot on the field that you throw to, he doesn't tear apart defenses.

Funchess, though, has some speed and can run routes precisely. He catches better than Ted Ginn, Jr., but is short on his speed. And he's big enough to work from the slot, if he's tough enough for it.

You heard it here first.

Out of all our WRs, he has the most WR1 potential. He's still a very good route-runner, has fantastic measurables, and does well at finding ways to get YAC. Although he still has to be more consistent, I think Funchess will eventually pan out as our best WR in the future.
