2009 draft having no impact so far

I feel like Gamble is overrated. Either that or the coaches won't let him play the way he should be playing. I mean, why the hell are we paying him shutdown corner money and then make him play 7 yards off the line?

it's ok...we havent unveiled our potent defense yet...still playing vanilla until the start of the regular season remember?.........................................................................................

Oh Sh%t!

Gamble, while overpaid, is a good Corner.

The problem, is that we have no body to rush from the edge, nor a push in the middle, to hurry QB's.

I have been saying it for a very long time. We are not a great drafting team.

We did well with Gamble, Davis (finally), Beason, but you are supposed to nail the 1st rounders....we don't draft well outside of the 1st though.

Lots of draft picks in our LB corps, and backfield.....

Yeah people have been saying that for a long time and have been consistently proven wrong. 1st rounders are NOT automatic. Look around the league at teams that screw themselves with their first rounders.

Peppers Gross Gamble Davis Williams Beason Stewart Otah

That's about as solid as you can get. All starters(minus Stewart - costarter in a way), all GOOD starters.

Everette Brown, still haven't seen him a game yet.

Sherrod Martin...........yea we should have drafted Sean Smith.

Corey Irvin..........IR, doubt it would have mattered anyway.

Mike Goodson, mediocre kick returning, fumble.

Tony Fiammetta....he dropped that pass that one time...

Duke Robinson.....for a guy as big as him he is sure hard to find.

Captain Munnerlyn.....a 7th round pick, has been our most impact player. Something is wrong here.

3 of the players are injured. Brown,Irvin, and Robinson so thats why they have not had a chance to make an impact. I think Robinson is a project though and we will not see him till next year at the soonest. Goodson and Fiammetta are not stars but they should improve. Goodson dose need to hold onto the ball. Thats a bad habit. Munnerlyn made Martin Look like the 7th round pick not the other way around. He also beat out C.J. Wilson ,so much for fox going with the vet.

Another thing that sucks about our coaching is they don't let our corners follow the receivers. For instance, last year in the playoffs when Fitz was tearing Lucas a new one, they kept Gamble on the other side of the field. If he is our best corner and you are in a one and done situation, why would you not let Gamble follow Fitz?

I think your wrong. While we do have a void at DT. There has not been that many good quality DTs to fall to us in the draft. We have been picking BPA and that has us a Log jam at LB. Loads of good LBs have been in the draft for a few years. While I dont like that we do not draft QBs and some have fell to us that is my only problem with how we draft. I think our biggest problem for 3 years now has been Peppers. He has eaten cap up so we could not make moves in FA to get a starting DT or trade for one. Cap room has been a big problem for a while now and its showing.

Gamble struggles in Bump coverage for some reason and def needs some work in that department. Besides that he is a solid CB. If you watch the game we have good edge rush 80% of the time but the fact that the QB can just step up in the pocket makes our edge rush useless. The only time we get a sack is when we blitz to the middle or Lewis beats his man.

I don't recall him looking bad here until after that Monday night game against TB. I assumed he was getting wore out from the season at that age. Guess we'll know if he's still playing decent in Seattle in week 12.

Brown has had a chance....wasnt Robinson a 3 or 4 year starter in a good college divison that IMO does not say project.Martin was already a old rookie he is turing out to look like a guy that will be here for a while as a special teamer..but its too early to write any of these guys off..instead we should stop with the overreatcing during preseason and TC

what's funny is our drafting is like our playing on a yearly basis...Inconsistent...Good draft, Bad Draft, Good Draft, Bad draft...08 was good...07 bad except for our first rounder Mister Jon Beason...Ironic thing is that we usually draft pretty good 1st rounders so I guess next year we will start being consistent with our drafting...:banghead:

This point is flawed, because the 07 draft was pretty good for us:

Beason

Kalil

Rosario

Those guys have all been contributors and Charles Johnson could possibly be on that list depending how how he works out by year's end.

The '09 draft was somewhat flawed but Brown cannot be judged after only 3 games, and neither can a lot of these players. Munnerlyn has had the most impact but why can't we celebrate the fact that we got someone with potential in the 7th round?
