After TD and Olsen....Norwell should be Next

Should be before TD, imo.

Greg - Norwell - TD

How do you feel about Star vs Norwell? Do you think we should make sure we keep the G over the DT? Personally, I think protecting Cam is more important, but im not an evaluator. Guards may be easier to find in the draft than run stopping DTs.

Do teams always honor the contract the end?

You people.... it's like you are ...  ugghhhh...

There is nothing in the contract that says they have to, it actually states that they can terminate whenever.  Wanting more money they you agreed upon just because you became more productive then you valued yourself at when you signed it doesn't mean the team has to compensate you for it, they have a salary cap to manage, and that original contract is all ready figured into the cap. Sorry if you don't agree with it, but that's how the business end of football is ran

A solid young nfl guard that stays healthy.

That is far from common.

Norwell is a tough one for me.. Sometimes, you have to let good players walk, right?  He seems like one of those very solid but unspectacular players.  Guys like that can be replaced with lower cost players in the draft.  Even first and second round picks are pretty cheap these days.   I guess it just depends on what it would take to keep him. I would be happy if we kept him, but i don't think he's reached the "irreplaceable" status. I understand that sometimes, you have to let go of guys you like.  He might fall into a category like a James Anderson type player.  A guy that Marty might overpay instead of replacing with younger, cheaper talent with more potential.  Think about the solid but unspectacular guys Gettleman has let go of.. Mike Mitchell, Steve Smith (unspectacular production wise for a number 1 receiver), Brandon Lafell, Captain Munnerlyn...the list goes on and on. These are all guys who could play, but Gettleman rolled the dice for the sake of the cap, and put his money on scouting.  That's what i will miss most about him.

Also, Marty still has the same scouts as Gettleman, and Don Gregory, who was here before Gettleman.  They play a big role too.

TD and Olsen should get done pretty quickly and I hope and pray Hurney doesn't go Jon Beason or Jonathan Stewart crazy on the deals.

I think after these two players.  Norwell needs to get done.  I would think if we offered him the same as Turner we could lock him up.

I believe it is critical to our future.  Kalil as great as he is, isn't going to last forever. Having Norwell and Turner locked up for the next 4 or 5 years will make the transition for a new center much easier than having a free agent.  Not to mention the comfort level Cam will have with these two.

Paying a slightly-above-average guard elite guard money is a great way to descend back into cap hell.

I like Norwell but he's replaceable. He's not on the same level of Trai, not even close.

Maybe so but he is a known quantity and that's a valuable thing to have ...I wouldn't give him the same as Turner but we still need to lock him up...

Norwell, TD.  [TD isn't going anywhere else if we don't sign him.  *Could* be done next year ala the deals we did with CJ, though I'd be fine if we extend TD now at a reasonable cost.  Less distraction for all involved if we do.]

Greg?

I love Greg. I want him to stay here. But I think redoing his contract now with 2 years left sets a pretty bad precedent.  I'm not sure of a win-win solution on this.  Is there some way to reward Greg without opening up a HUGE door for players who are outperforming their contracts or now "underpaid" in comparison with others in the league (Luke, Cam) to want to renegotiate early?!?!   I'd like to find a good solution for this, but Greg may have to wait.

Why create an extra hole on the line if you can avoid it?

DING DING DING DING!

We have a winner.

Exactly.  We've been dealing with constant change on our Oline for awhile..  Keeping the interior together is a HUGE PLUS.

SMH.  In comparison to who? 100 + tackles , 3 picks, 4 PD's  3.5 sacks.  Who is that a bad year for?  Compared to the previous year he is off by a few sacks.. but the defense over all was worse, especially in the secondary and early in the year on the pass rush.  Why are people making $%$% up about TD just because he wants an extension?

He basically took almost 3 1/2 years off due to injury so he doesn't have the wear of someone who played the same amount of time.  Argue the length of the extension all you want, but don't make up poo about his play.  That's fugging stupid.

Guess he didnt look slow and i guess gettleman was wrong watching film

looks like someone is very attached to TD.

1. First here was contract negotiation in the works before Gettleman was fired.

2. He looked slow is...... you...  umm...

3. Were you watching film with Gettleman?  do you know what he thought?

4. Attached to TD as a fan, yeah about as much as any Panther fan.  If I thought there was a significant drop off I would be there saying I will always love and respect you TD but move to the side.  However,  the narrative that TD is old, slow and washed up that's being pushed by some of you is wrong.   It's not true.  Couple that with the fact that even if he lost a step he is still probably one of the fastest sideline to sideline LB's in the game.

I dont even think TD needs an extension

dude looked bad last year. And a very tape oriented, honest, tell it like it is GM thinks he has deteriorated. Which he has. Time to let the 35 year old linebacker play out his last year of his deal and have him walk

that is the smart thing to do. The emotional dumb thing to do is to extend him further repressing Shaqs playing time and making it harder to retain younger guys.

Seems like a lot of you guys are drinking the enotional, sentimental coolaid. Cant have it both ways. Cant dog on hurney but then turn around and say we should extend TD

we shouldnt. Period.

Some of you guys are the most bitter fans I've ever seen.

Honestly you are the worst one.
