Well it was Trai Turner not Brenton Bersin, he was getting paid regardless.

If you think this is overpaying for a top 5 pro bowl guard, you are sadly mistaken.

Sarcasm.... we all know Trai was gonna get paid, so will Norwell, and hopefully Star. I'm really hoping that Hurney really did learn from his mistakes.

And if hurney does that enough times, we'll be back into cap hell again

Again it isn't the salary but the guaranteed money that put us in cap hell. You can contract to pay any amount but you only have to pay what is guaranteed.

Voth said Gettleman laid the framework.. we don't know whether or not Hurney put any finishing touches on it.

There is so much fans dont think about.. Maybe DG wanted 5 years?  maybe that would have helped us in some way down the line if we had several players needing new deals after the 4th year.  Maybe there were some other small details that DG was trying get into the deal, that Marty was willing to concede on.

Actually think in this scenario a 4 year deal works out better because Trai will be 28 by the end of it, so a final contract could have him off the books at 32/33 vs 33/34 when he starts losing a step.

Hopefully the chicken littles will now realize that the sky is not falling because nipple shorts got canned. Camp is starting soon and the ass kicking will commence soon after.

By the way, Gettlemen had this deal all but sealed. You can't possibly believe Hurney came in, negotiated the contract and had all the language finalized in 48 hours?

Sadly, a lot of folks actually do believe that.

I was looking at cap raises per year again, and I think the current trend bodes well for this contract.

2017 $167 million
2016 $155.27 million
2015 $143.28 million
2014 $133 million
2013 $123 million
2012 $120.6 million
2011 $120 million
2010 [Uncapped]
2009 $123 million
2008 $116 million
2007 $109 million
2006 $102 million
2005 $85.5 million
2004 $80.582 million
2003 $75.007 million
2002 $71.101 million
2001 $67.405 million
2000 $62.172 million
1999 $57.288 million
1998 $52.388 million
1997 $41.454 million
1996 $40.753 million
1995 $37.1 million
1994 $34.608 million

If it keeps increasing at this rate it will make Trai's contract look cheap in the near future.

I want you all to take this in perspective for a moment we have 17 million in space before this.

His cap hit was 2 million... it is now 11 million+ making him the THIRD highest cap on this team and leaving with only 9 million in cap space(as we owe Oher 4M in dead money and only save 1.6 on the cap)....

I love you Trai but god damn... He's making more money than Luke and is only below Cam and Luke on cap space... and he's a guard.

Please someone correct my math.

Also moving players around I bet they are putting him at tackle for that kind of money...

You are mentally ill.

At what point does Gettlefandom end and Panthers fandom begin?

Yeah, I'm the mentally ill one here. You're obsessed with wonder woman and think Derek Anderson is better than cam. Don't quote me.. You're a moron.

DA is not more talented - just a better pair of hands to carry this team forward from a tactical standpoint, as opposed to Wonder Woman.

I understand that for most people football is an entertainment rather than a profession - and perhaps it is best left that way - but if you're interested in the game on a different level, there's resources I can recommend.
