The same JR that belittled Peyton Manning with a pie chart in a CBA meeting during the lockout, and sent the team into a tailspin in preparation of said lockout?

JR ultimately cares about himself, and his net worth. This idea that he will sacrifice anything or anyone to keep the players happy is horseshit. I think firing Gettleman right now was a stupid move, but I think it had more to do with Jerry asserting his authority over the franchise than these idiotic assertions that Olsen an Davis went crying to JR to get Gettleman fired.

Yeah, I don't like bashing JR, but this one pisses me off to no end. Until JR proves otherwise, I can't believe that there was a good reason for this.

Knowing Gettleman he probably would have picked a D-lineman instead of Cam. So thank god Hurney was picking

Ok so now we are just making poo up to cover our poorly thought out comments?

Hurney had been in charge for ten years by the time the Panthers hit rock bottom.  We were worse than the Cleveland Browns... let that sink in for a moment.  Marty Hurney's fingerprints were all over that team.

Hurney had an historically bad draft that year and as we all know, his other drafts typically weren't anything to write home about beyond the first round (when he hadn't traded that pick away).

I get why some people here didn't like Gettleman's manners or how he unceremoniously treated players that were fan favorites, but there is really no comparison when comparing these two GMs.

This is the dumbest comment ever. Like really stupid. Hurney got Kris Jenkins, Steve Smith, and Dan Morgan in one draft before he came. Not to mention that he actually had cap space to pick FAs. His next draft the only player worth a damn he didn't get from FA was Julius Peppers. He left Dave with Luke, Cam, no cap space, bloated contracts and a old team.

Desean Foster isn't worth a damn but guys like Butler, Ealy and Funchess are? Oh The hypocrisy

Hurney also found Delhomme and got Davis

Actually Dave inherited 8 pro bowl players from Hurney. A franchise QB trumps ALL

Hurney from 2002-2008 was a very different GM than Hurney from 2009-2012.  The first Hurney found Deshaun Foster, Will Witherspoon, Dante Wesley, Ricky Manning Jr., Colin Branch, Travelle Wharton, Evan Mathis, Richard Marshall, James Anderson, Jeff King, Ryan Kalil, Charles Johnson, and Gary Barnidge after the first round.  The second one made more questionable trades but did score Cam and Luke and traded for Olsen, so there's that.

Unfortunately, I think that the interim GM will be the 2009-2012 Hurney, because Richardson will be running the team through him.

I always thought Hurney was at his best in FA. He did good things there but always stunk at drafting. After JR stripped him of FA talent the wheels fell off. Dave was a all around better GM with Jr's insistancy of not playing FA and it showed on the field.

We're stretching back to 2015 but I'm sure there was a tackle in free agency better than remmers

Specifically which one.  That's the problem when people hollar at the top of their lungs to protect Cam and get a damn Tackle......I always ask, which one, and how....I never get an answer.

Wrong about what? Witherspoon had one good year and that was his career contract year. The next year he left for a fat contract and never lived up to it. The rest was playing clean up or subbing for Morgan. So sit down kid I lived though the Hurney era and know it well.

Dude, he was an integral part of our SB team. We had the best D that year. His contract year was probably his worst season as a starter in Carolina

And he was voted Rams MVP in 2007...

Wrong, if integral you mean the started sure. Our super bowl defense was about 3 guys and they were all on the Dline. It was one of Morgan's best years of non brain damage too.

He picked him because the value was there and because DT's are a valuable commodity. It was a good pick. By that logic though, whey did Hurney pick Luke when we already had a starting MLB?

DT are not a valuable commodity, where in the guidebook to have a successful team does it says you need 3 good DT? Gtfoh

Hurney picked Luke cause both Davis and Beason were coming off major and multiple injuries, and Luke was legitimately the best MLB in the country 2 maybe 3 years in a row. Comparing the Luke pick to Butler shows your lack of knowledge.

Hurney was idiot and so was Gettleman these last couple of drafts are the reason we can't have back to back winning seasons.

And you know for a fact Gettleman wouldn't have been 100% on picking Cam
