This is where I disagree with you.

Norman was never going to be anything but a one year rental.  Period.  He was not (WAS NOT) ever going to be signed to a long-term deal, primarily because of his position and his age.

Gettleman prioritizes impact linemen over skill position players.  Why?  Because that's how you win in the NFL.

Please do name me one of the NFL great teams that won because they had the best WRs and DBs while they also had a poor OL and DL.  Even the Failcan'ts, after all their years drafting receivers and corner backs and being inconsistent and losing in the playoffs, finally wised up.  The Failcant's didn't have success last year because Julio Jones is super amazing (he is) and Trufant is an extremely good CB (he is)... the Failcant's finally put it all together last year because their OL was quality and healthy and their DL increased their sack numbers from 19 (in 2015) to 34 (in 2016).

So Josh Norman, as good as he is (and thinks he is and he's worth) became surplus to requirements, because what this team really needed to do was re-sign Kawann Short (just like we still need to re-sign Star Lotuleilei... and Trai Turner... and hopefully Andrew Norwell... hear that TD and Greg?).

So Josh Norman's "heart" had nothing to do with it.  What the core of Josh Norman and his agent's efforts were was to become the highest paid CB in the NFL, not "heart". (P.S. Don't blame Norman a bit for trying for that mark and succeeding, btw... but lets please not try to paint a story of Josh's sad puppy dog eyes missing his ol' Carolina Home when what he really wanted was the $$$).

disagree, as Josh would have signed a reasonable long term deal. it was a major screw up to let him walk then draft in panic mode as Gman did...it set us back...

Why did Gettleman draft Vernon when he planned on re-signing KK and Star?

It takes a total team effort to win a championship. You have to have great pieces all around, not just on the line. I don't know of one team in as long as I've watched the NFL that has only one with stout linemen and mediocrity everywhere else, especially skill positions.

One reason Belichick has been able to keep his franchise winning and collecting hardware is because he knows what position his team needs upgrading at and what he can skimp on at any given time, and it's not always the same.

There's plenty of good reasons to have let dg go, gotta take the blinders off for a sec, protecting and adding cam weapons hasn't been a priority until this past offseason, the secondary has always been a joke until 2015, wr core has been garbage since smith left, and special teams has been trash as well. That's not even digging into the debacles with smith or Norman.

Was he better than Hurney ever was? HELL TO THE YES !!! Marty No Playoffs For 8 Years Hurney.

I think you mean no playoff wins. As a franchise we have never gone 8 years without a playoff appearance.

Gman can't make that or any roster decisions without JR signing off. So all this he ran smitty and dwill and gross and Norman out of town is "fans" putting blinders on

No one knows that Josh would have signed a reasonable deal. I don't believe anything that he or anyone says after the fact. @heel31ok is talking out of his ass

Speaking of which.. If you think Gettleman set us back, what do you call what hurney did to us before he was shown the door? Haha. It was ten times worse

JR signed off on those deals too. The common denominator is the owner is mediocre. Therefore the team reflects that. Hurney and gman weren't running the team with no supervision, doing whatever they wanted while JR napped in his owners box, as much as people want to act like that was how it went down
