Was DG that great?

lol you sound like the morons who bash Cam. Have you not been paying attention the past 22 years? How can someone bitch about Cam when they watched the garbage we put out there for a majority of the past 22 years?
Gettleman was great. He took a franchise that was $16-17M over the cap. He was asked to rebuild the roster. He managed to rebuild the roster while getting out of cap hell. He was the anti-Hurney and it was exactly what the franchise needed. I don't care about what the 2014 record was. All I know is they won a playoff game and the division. The rest is irrelevant.
His rosters won 40 games over a 4 year span. His rosters won a NFC Championship and 3 straight Division Titles. He did all of this while getting us $17M under the salary cap while locking up Cam, Luke, Olsen, TD, and Short all to fair deals. So again, yes, he was that great. No one in 22 years came even close to putting up those results while GM here. He also did all of this without brining in one of his guys. He kept all of the coaches, all management, and the whole scouting department. He adapted to what was here and made it work. That is also unheard of in this time and age.
Like I said, I can only hope as our fan base matures and we eventually get new ownership, fans like you will be weeded out. Those who are content with Jerry's Good Ole Boys Club. This garbage country club atmosphere that he created. It is no longer good enough to just be here. Jerry Richardson himself guaranteed a Super Bowl within 20 years and that clearly never happened. You accuse me of licking Gettleman's balls, but you are the biggest Jerry Richardson shill out there right now. You can continue to root for mediocrity and I will continue to root for Super Bowls.

No i sound like a realist.. Dave was a good GM but greatness is not having 2 losing seasons out of 4 or making mistakes (which he has said himself) and not having a championship..

You are mediocre.. You are the one trying to make 7-9 and 6 -10 g

I mean you just post nonsense. So once again I will say it, yes, Dave Gettleman was a great GM. What he did under this train wreck of an owner and salary cap mess he inherited was nothing short of brilliant.

You see nonsense because you're balls deep in mediocre..
You're a loser in general so any level of success makes you see greatness..
I've been around awhile and live in reality...
Reality is Gman made mistakes that cost him greatness.. Gman admitted faults unlike his followers who can't see past his nut sack..
What you call a trainwreck was actually a team on the verge of breaking thru when he got here.. He came in with a foundation of 2 franchise (1 being a QB) players and 6 or 7 probowl role players. He came in with a coach who gotten past his mistake filled rookie coach poo and was ready to take the next step..
He did fix a shitty cap situation but he had a team that was talented and ready to compete from day 1..
Example of a trainwreck..
The Browns
The Jets
No QB and a lot of young players with ? on them..
Again thanks for showing you don't know poo..

Again you fall back to name calling and your biggest argument was Gettleman wasn't perfect. So like every GM in this history of sports, he made some mistskes. I agree with you he wasn't perfect, but he was pretty damn great.

I also never said the team was a train wreck, eventhough it very well might be soon. I said the owner is a trainwreck.

2014- Made the playoffs, lost in the second round.

2015- made the playoffs, lost the Super Bowl.

Making chicken soup out of chicken poo.

We have salary cap room now. Let's revisit in a year, shall we?

In 2014 the Panthers had a losing season, and had plenty of cap room. In 2015 yeah, the Panthers made the Super Bowl, and were not capped strapped at all. In 2016 the Panthers had an over abundance of cap room and had their worst season since 2011.

The Panthers have not been in "cap hell" for the past four years.

Does it really matter? Gettleman is gone.

The important thing is, was Hurney really that great? And sadly there can only be one answer and its not yes. Even more sadly we are about to enter a period were Hurney is last time was a disaster. Finding cheap gems and overpaying veterans. With Star, Norwell, TD, Olsen up for new contracts. We could be in cap trouble next season if we are not going to finde some great cheap players to fill the roster.

disagree, as Josh would have signed a reasonable long term deal. it was a major screw up to let him walk then draft in panic mode as Gman did...it set us back...

Naw.

Josh was looking to get PAID.

Remember he is not young and was on cheap contracts since being drafted.

He could get top dollar and that is what he went and got.
