Hurney is now going to be looking to fill out the roster with castoffs from other teams after cuts. If you're comfortable with that then you're fuging retarded.

Yeah, that's basically what Gettleman did every single off season. Remember the 2014 wide receiver and secondary rebuild? It was all cast offs from other teams, and they played like it.

When you have no money to spend because the previous GM had gave away the future, you gotta make do. But if you spend wisely, you can get past it. And just when it looks clear, ownership says "Ooooh, I have an idea!!!"

In 2014 the Panthers had something like 20 million in cap room. This was before Dave Gettleman decided to tag Greg Hardy. This is the year he decided to rebuild the receiving, and defensive back position groups. Which he did so with cheap cast offs.

The Panthers had even more cap room in 2015, or would have if the if the signings from the previous year had worked out, and yet more in 2016. This is what happens when the cap raises by over 10 million each year consistently.

2014- Made the playoffs, lost in the second round.

2015- made the playoffs, lost the Super Bowl.

Making chicken soup out of chicken poo.

We have salary cap room now. Let's revisit in a year, shall we?

Was he better than Hurney ever was? HELL TO THE YES !!! Marty No Playoffs For 8 Years Hurney.

Never in the history of the franchise have the Panthers went 8 years without making the playoffs. You must be using new math. But they didn't make the playoffs last year, under Gettleman.

2014 was a losing record and we beat a team without a QB..

Some fans like this will never change. They enjoy mediocrity. This is what happens when you are a relatively young fan base. Most of the fans are just happy to be here, with winning being secondary. It is truly a shame. Just got to hope with new ownership and as we grow as a fan base, we weed out fans like this and gain fans who have standards.

Oh, and to answer the question, yes, Dave Gettleman was that great.

lol you sound like the morons who bash Cam. Have you not been paying attention the past 22 years? How can someone bitch about Cam when they watched the garbage we put out there for a majority of the past 22 years?

Gettleman was great. He took a franchise that was $16-17M over the cap. He was asked to rebuild the roster. He managed to rebuild the roster while getting out of cap hell. He was the anti-Hurney and it was exactly what the franchise needed. I don't care about what the 2014 record was. All I know is they won a playoff game and the division. The rest is irrelevant.

His rosters won 40 games over a 4 year span. His rosters won a NFC Championship and 3 straight Division Titles. He did all of this while getting us $17M under the salary cap while locking up Cam, Luke, Olsen, TD, and Short all to fair deals. So again, yes, he was that great. No one in 22 years came even close to putting up those results while GM here. He also did all of this without brining in one of his guys. He kept all of the coaches, all management, and the whole scouting department. He adapted to what was here and made it work. That is also unheard of in this time and age.

Like I said, I can only hope as our fan base matures and we eventually get new ownership, fans like you will be weeded out. Those who are content with Jerry's Good Ole Boys Club. This garbage country club atmosphere that he created. It is no longer good enough to just be here. Jerry Richardson himself guaranteed a Super Bowl within 20 years and that clearly never happened. You accuse me of licking Gettleman's balls, but you are the biggest Jerry Richardson shill out there right now. You can continue to root for mediocrity and I will continue to root for Super Bowls.
