And blame Hurney for drafting Cam and Luke the two anchors to our team.

If only running a team was as simple as picking highly rated prospects with the high picks you were rewarding for being terrible the year before.

Those draft picks are a clear reflection of the complete disaster he was at the 99.9% of the job beyond selecting in the first round.

1. Cam was by far college's best QB. Nearly every scout and draft expert with half a mind would agree. Drafting Cam #1 overall was a no-brainer.

2. Luke Kuechly was a Ron Rivera inspired pick. Thank Rivera for Kuechly, cause he probably wouldn't be a Panther without him.

I guarantee you based on Beason coming back, and DG's fetish for DT's that we would have taken Fletcher Cox over Luke, had it been DG in office instead of Hurney. I mean we can play what if's and who's responsible for what all day. The fact is when Hunrey was our GM the two corner stones to our franchise were drafted. No, Cam Newton was not the consensus overall number 1 pick that draft either. Lets not forget Von Miller, Dareus, AJ Green and Patrick Peterson all went right after, and many experts, GMs and scouts thought Gabbert was a better QB than Cam. Every scouting negative on Cam was Hurneys worst nightmare, and he took him regardless.

Regarding this Huddleism which tries to cast negativity upon Hurney for not drafting anyone after the first round, let me say that most GMs do their damage in the first couple of rounds. Hurney really wasn't that different from anyone else in that regard. Yes, he fuged up a draft or two, but no one is perfect.

I think what he's getting at is more that people are giving Hurney credit for making good picks in the top ten of the draft without understanding that 1) it's much easier to do that when you're picking sooner rather than later and 2) the reason he was in position to make those high picks is because the teams he put together the prior years were hot garbage.

Being a GM is more than drafting. He had some big first round wins beyond that what did he do well?

Exactly. He had the pick of the draft as a direct result of his failures in previous years

Jake Delhomme, Stephen Davis, Greg Olsen trade, Ken Lucas, Mike Wahle, Shockey...

Some of them were great or good....Wahle was nothing to mention. 11 years and that's the good GMing?
