Um....you clearly weren't around. When Gettlemen was hired, the Panthers were $16 million over the salary cap.
$16 million....we finally got back to a point where we could bring guys back that we didn't have money to sign again due to salary cap issues. Mostly from stupid high contracts handed out to guys like Charles Johnson, who never performed up to his potential. Sure, he drafted Cam, but no club who was drafting number 1 that year would've passed. 

Oh I was, but comparing this situation, and it is a bad one, with losing our franchise QB is just moronic and ridiculous in my opinion.
