My GM take and why it's more accurate than most

JR couldn't control DG. Point Blank!

JR and DG likely had a sit down at the house in front of the infamous Grandfather clock. A disagreement or several disagreements surely ensued. DG said that he was the GM and he was going to run the team a certain type of way, to which JR said, I'm the owner and you will do as I say.

DG probably said no way, I'm going to run it like this because it works, probably smarted off and told an old more rich guy that he was wrong and would run his organization into the ground if he didn't listen.... old rich guys don't like to hear ish like this, so JR likely fired him based off of this.

This makes more sense than anything else I've heard. I'm sure I'm not the only one to come to this conclusion either but I haven't seen it being said.

If there were any doubts that this is exactly why he was fired, then look no further than Marty Mart being brought back in. He's the epitome of a JR yes man! JR will say something and ole Marty Mart will jump as high as possible.

It also doesnt sound like ole Hurn Dawg is planning on going anywhere after this season according to him. The only thing he's interested in is eliminating the "interim" label in front of his title.

Losing Gettleman won't do much to hurt us this season. The team is pretty much set, minus a few signings here and there after cuts. These signings are usually stop gaps anyways.

Lets see if we can go get it this year!

P.S. FUG YOU BRONCOS!

I agree at least partially with this.  I think there was some tension, and the negotiations with TD and Olsen were the tipping point.  As recently as May, the relationship was obviously good enough that we would let the guy we've been grooming for the GM position leave for Buffalo.  Shortly after, Greg and TD decide they want more money and an extension, respectively.  Now, all of a sudden, the relationship has went to hell in the last two months?  Don't think so.  Sounds like JR gave DG the freedom to run the team the way he saw fit but always within JR's limits.  Making tough decisions regarding long-time Panthers and fan favorites was not included in that.

Well, I've been saying basically the same thing ever since I listened to the Beason interview. It makes too much sense when you consider the suddenness and abruptness of the firing.

You can't get into a dick swinging contest with the boss and expect for it to end well. He may let you showcase your junk and smack a few upside their noggins from time to time, but when he tells you to reel that baby in, you better do as he says.
