No one rally knows what happened. DG could have refused to give him an extension at all. Just because Marty is going to extend his contract, doesnt mean that he is going to break the bank. He might actually have a lower cap hit when its all over. So, untill we know all the details, I think doom and gloom is premature

I can't believe there id so much stupidity around here.

Please don't stop disliking one of the best Panthers ever, just because you can't grasp what has happened without blaming TD.  Let that ignorant hate grow!

Can you blame people when the most successful GM in history gets canned without good reason and the owner brings back the guy that has had the least amount of success. I mean logically it makes no sense at all.

Blaming TD makes even less sense.

But please, keep grasping at straws in your effort to understand.

What am I grasping at? People are going to be all over the place because the firing makes no sense, the hiring of Hurney makes no sense, and the rumors are all people have to go on. Davis could have stepped back and allowed it to cool but he has been adding gas to the fire with his post. If he now gets a contract it will be even worse. A simple statement explaining why Dave was fired would have killed this but it's not going to happen.

I Don't agree with you at all.

Hurney wasn't even close to the least successful Panther GM. Your opinion on that speaks more about your age, or lack or memory.

What Davis has said, and will continue to do, has nothing to do with Gettleman's release.  That is just lazy thinking.

I'm  also of the opinion, that knowing the reasoning for Gettleman's departure won't make it any easier.

I also saw this tweet earlier from TD...  any other year, it would seem just like the usual nicety from one to another...  but, considering what just happened, it screams of something more than the usual.

Nah.

I agree the timing is awful and it's easy to read too much into it, but I'm POSITIVE TD has posted tweets like this on JR's b'day in previous years.  TD is a classy guy, loves the owner who gave him a chance after 3 ACLs.  Totally understandable.

Yeah, it is the context.  Definitely not my intention to take a swipe at TD.  I love the guy, and know he's pure class.  It just seemed like "BAM!" following the last two days and his interview after Gettleman's firing.  It seemed like a "Thanks, JR!"  But, I know they have long had a great relationship.  It's just hard to ignore all that is going on around the tweet.
