So Why Are So Many Fans Repulsed With The Idea Marty Hurney Is Near This Team? A Look Back In Time.

For the record...we still haven't had back to back winning seasons.  Sneaking in at 7-8-1 in a very weak division shouldnt be a resume builder.

Hurney did sign Shockey and trade for Olsen.  Meanwhile we are still stuck with Dickson.

I didn't say that. FYI Hurney had 3 winning seasons in 11 years with a free cap. Dave had 2 winning seasons in 4 years being cash strapped. Sorry, not sorry.

I just don't get how people are ok with Hurney anywhere near the team. At his absolute best he is a "yes man" who will do whatever JR wants. ......THAT'S NOT A GOOD THING

Name me any other field where someone can be so bad at their job they get fired, the company hires you to replace that guy and you vastly outperform him while working with less, AND THEN THEY FIRE YOU FOR THAT DUMBASS GUY AGAIN.

LOL

If Hurney is brought in as an interim, it's beyond obvious that JR is the actual interim and Hurney is simply being brought in to do his bidding. Monster contracts coming up for TD and Olsen. Don't get me wrong, I love TD and Olsen as much as any other Panthers fan, but you simply can't commit big sums of guaranteed money to a TE and a LB who are nearing the end of their prime. You could certainly argue that TD is showing signs that he's already past his prime.

Those types of moves simply aren't conducive to future success in the NFL and they're the types of moves that got Hurney fired, though after this stunt by JR of firing Gettleman, I'm not so certain those were necessarily Hurney's decisions to begin with.

If we hand out huge new contracts to TD and Olsen before hiring a new GM, no one worth a single fug would come anywhere close to this gig.

I don't mind Hurney at all as the interim GM. I'd rather have an experienced GM for a year that will provide at least some continuity with the staff and players than some random front officer staffer who's in over his head.

I wouldn't want Hurney back full-time, but as a stop-gap GM for the season, why not?

Y'all ready to give TD a 2yr/35 million deal and Olsen 4yr/50 million? Cause Marty Hurney sure is.

If the past is any indicator they will be record setting deals that will prevent the team from retaining our younger talent.

Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if Hurney just gives these two guys blank checks and tells them to fill whatever amount they want.

Ultimately, as little respect as I have for Hurney's GM skills, I primarily blame JR for enabling Marty's foolishness and preventing Gettleman from doing his job.

Why not?
