Michael Oher Has A Few Harsh Words To Say Concerning The Firing Of Dave Gettleman

You still haven't explained to me how anything he says or does changes any injury settlement that might happen. The checks he gets for showing up will be exactly the same as they would have been if he didn't say a word about Gettleman. Again, you're reaching.

because he's not getting an injury settlement if he's cleared by doctors to play. I already explained that. the fact that he's showing up to mandatory team activities means that he's likely been cleared to perform in these activities. if he has been cleared, he's not getting an injury settlement. what sense would that make? so the choices for him are to either come to work or to get fined. he's choosing to come to work, reluctantly. he doesn't want to be here. he wants to retire, but he doesn't want to leave all the money on the table that he would forfeit by hanging them up. so the next logical progression would be to have the team cut you so that you can still get paid. how do you get cut as a veteran before training camp? make yourself a giant distraction. post pill bottles. stick up for your old boss when everyone else is happy he's gone. make ESPN as much as possible for the wrong reasons. starting to see the roadmap yet?

If the organization said the sky was blue, Oher would say it was green. Dude is trying so hard to get out of here with a fat bag of cash that he's going to say and do whatever it takes to make that happen. His end game is so transparent.

...the one dude he should have cut in January...

First of all, how do you know that everybody else is happy Gettleman is gone? The only people to weigh in are a couple of former players. The only other person involved with the franchise right now who has said anything is JR. Secondly, everything you're describing could just as easily be accomplished without him mentioning Gettleman at all.  Third, there is no reason to believe that the Panthers will force Oher to be here against his will, especially when they have already signed his replacement and drafted depth. I just don't buy it.

For those of you who assume Gettleman's a heartless monster who doesn't build personal relationships with players, you're dead wrong.
Michael Oher lashed out at the Panthers organization, expressing disdain at their decision to fire Gettleman, and explaining how huge their relationship was.

This just makes me even more mad. Gettleman seemed to be the only one who cared much about Oher and his well-being, while the rest of the Panthers seemed to have already moved on from him.
This is sad.

Yes it is man, and karma is a MF

If he's cleared by the doctors to play, an injury settlement probably isn't going to happen. He'll either have to show up to play or get cut in order to get his checks. The fact that he's already shown up at the facility is reason enough to believe he's willing to go the whole way with this game of chicken. It's not reaching, it's what's literally happening.

He showed up at the facility because his contract says he has to. Everybody has to show up if they're under contract, even if they can't work out.

Oher hasn't been cleared to play after, what, a year after the concussion? If he was going to be cleared for contact, would have happened by now. He's not coming back, he's getting an injury settlement. He doesn't have to do jack to get it. Doubt you can find one source connected to the team saying Oher is playing this year.

I guess it's possible he could get cleared to play, but as the old magic 8 ball says on Oher playing: Outlook not so good.

Here's a possibility for you guys about Hurley. Hurley signed those insane contracts at Richardson's insistence, really didn't want to, warned Richardson privately that it was going to snarl the cap up big time down the road, then got fired when that happened.

Fast forward to today, Hurney's talk with Richardson is reminding him of that and getting control of the football decisions for the Panthers and doesn't give either Davis or Olson a big contract, actually signs the youngsters to long term deals first.

Still have the problem of the later rounds of the draft, but ,hopefully  for you guys, there's a better scouting department in place and/or Richardson meddled in the draft as well and control of football decisions means that Richardson is no longer involved in the draft.

How about in two years when we're paying out the ying yang for old players and going 6-10 when we could have singed 5 young and hungry dogs and go 11-5 until infinity

Yeah because we dumped vets and hired 5 hungry dogs last year and went 11-5.............oh wait.    That right those hungry dogs went 6-10 in 2016 and 7-8-1 in 2014. Those vets went 12-4 in 2013 and 15-1 in 2015.....

I bet you the younger players on this team are ROLLING THEIR DAMN EYES at TD and Olsen and all of the butthurt players of the past

THEY were the ones about to get paid and rightfully so. thats how a team works. Younger better players replace older ones. On the field and leadership roles

Shaq needs his time on the field and in the locker room

Man let's be reasonable.  How can you expect Greg Olsen to provide for a family off 7,500,000 dollars per year?  I couldn't imagine trying to support a family on that.  They probably are surviving off food stamps.  We have to see both sides

Yeah. I need to be more mindful and considerate of people who make a fraction of what I do. Good point dude.

The fact he was all in this year with the veterans makes me wonder why he  would object to extending Olsen and Davis unless this was a one or two year strategy and not part of a larger plan. Makes me wonder who was behind all these signings. Gettleman or Richardson pulling the strings and when Gettleman said enough is enough he got canned.

Beason basically said Gettleman was very friendly to him right up until he was traded, and then wasn't even given a handshake on the way out the door. I think this is where the "snake" comment from Williams comes into play. Gettleman will act cordial until he the moment he decides you're not a Panther anymore.

I can see by all the well thought out posts on this board that none of you are socially awkward. All of you would, of course, handle everything with complete aplomb, no anxiety at all. Well, I got news for you. Many people are socially awkward, anxiety ridden when faced with a social situation where they feel uncomfortable. I am and I wouldn't be surprised if Gettleman is too. And saying goodbye is uncomfortable. So very uncomfortable that you avoid the situation.

Even if it's to the advantage of the person leaving. Gettleman did Beason a favor because he was not going to be a starter here again with Luke in the middle and his injuries piling up. Giants needed LB's and Beason did well there until his body failed him.

Which leads me to the others on your gone-girl list. Williams wouldn't renegotiate his contract, we couldn't afford to carry his and Stewart's (who did renegotiate) cap hits. So, cut. Smitty was a great football player, a top tier WR, a future HOF'er, loved watching him play. But he was an asshole of a person. Had no problem punching people until his daughter mentioned it. Then he's sorry he's doing it because of his daughter not because it was the wrong thing to do. Wouldn't do what was asked of him by the coach which was to help the young players. So, cut. Norman is just an idiot, plain and simple. His not being here is on him not Gettleman.

Thomas Davis says they were in the middle of negotiations. I don't put this on the players but it is going to rattle the locker room, be a distraction.  This is squarely on JR. And I don't trust him, not with all the bs he's done since 2009. If I was Rivera or any of the coaches, I would feel like the ground is very shaky under my feet right now.

I think you're projecting a bit.

And you quoted that whole essay to say that???????? lol No, I can pretty clearly see who is socially awkward by their mannerisms and reactions. But, then, that would be new to the Huddle, huh? lol

You quoted me to write an unrelatable essay, of course I'm going to respond.
