Predict the record before/after Gettleman's firing...

The firing won't have immediate impact. Long term though.. Depending on the new GM and how much money will be invested in players will have a huge impact in the years to come.

yep. I'm not sure any of the players were so emotionally connected to Gettleman that his firing is going to affect their performance this season, and he's already done most of the work of the GM. We just need to lease a GM for a year to make the final roster cut and manage things as the season goes on.

I'm going with Saca and say 13-3 to win the division. We keep having on and off years and this is the "on" year yet again (Off year 2012, 2014, 2016 / On year 2011, 2013, 2015 / See a pattern here?) . The key this season is everyone actually staying healthy and Cam having good pass blocking from the tackles.  Expect some sort of playoff run or even a trip back to the Super Bowl

I can see Rivera reverting back to how he was his first few seasons here honestly. He seems to need a fire under his butt to keep him aggressive in his coaching style. I feel like G-man brought that and I'm not sure the next Hurney would do the same.

I think if anything Rivera should be concerned. Yeah Gettleman was fired for reasons that Rivera wouldn't be fired for, still there's a general message being sent from JR that he will make sudden and quick changes if he feels the need to. I think JR would clean house if we end up having two 6-10 seasons for example right after a SB appearance, I could see both Rivera and Shula being canned if this season is bad. They could probably get away with it if they either post a double digit win season and/or make the playoffs.

Rivera is now in the hot seat. The first thing a new general manager will do is evaluate the coaches.

Firing Gettleman has no bearing on this season at all. Y'all know that right? It is about the bigger issue of long term success and sustainability which I felt like we were on the right tract with Dave as GM

Agreed.  All this gloom and doom talk for this season is amusing.  The pieces for the team this year are mostly set, just got to see who makes the team and who doesn't.

Long term, well I guess it depends on who we pick as his replacement.  Fwiw, I think JR realizes he is getting old and he wants to win now, long term isn't as important to him as it is to the rest of us.
