I'd say he was at the very least a top 10 GM. By definition, a competitive advantage over the rest of the teams.

This is the case for any GM on any team... yet we still have shitty teams. why? Some GMs are better than others.

I don't need an explanation.  My only concern is that I hope they replace him with someone who is really good at his job. 

 

Edited to add, I sure would like a explanation as to why they are bringing back someone who failed at his job before.   How about giving someone new a try even if its only on an interim basis.

Every year renegotiate high salary players for cap space. Check

Trade next year's number 1 pick for another 1st round pick they we could get in the 2nd round. In the process trading our next year 3rd rounder to do it.  Check

Doing all that and being 7-9 One year and 10-6 the next
