I've never heard about a player begrudgingly hoisting the Lombardi trophy...

So much of what you just said is wrong.

JR pushed the Gilbert trade.

The 1976 Bucs played 14 games, so like I said the Panthers were the first team to lose 15 straight in a season.

Those 3 straight division titles came during Gettleman's tenure which proves my point.

Hurney offered Peppers the biggest contract for a defensive player in NFL history and more than the Bears offered. It was Richaedson's comments calling him out about being a leader that ran him out of town.

Jenkins main issue was with Richardson and how he controlled everything down to the pre-game music. He felt he didn't allow the players to express themselves.

Lets face it TD was ass last season he was losing his job & he knew it so why not secure the biggest payday you can for not doing poo but standing on the sidelines? but our GM knew that Jerry didin't :(

The entire team was ass.

not a fan of Bronn, but I have to agree with him here. All you guys throwing out age as a reason not to extend a player and as the main reason why a player is past their prime is absurd and downright stupid.

I guess the Pats should not resign Brady b/c he's 39. I guess we shouldn't have signed Peppers b/c he's 37, when both players are clearly still dominant at their positions, both physically, and now mentally more than ever.

Eli Manning and Drew Brees are both 36, clearly they're not worth a roster spot. Roethlisburger is 35, but obviously the Steelers should cut him, b/c I mean, he's 35 for crying out loud. His current production and "what have you done for me lately" shouldn't even factor in, b/c, damnn man, he's 35 fuging years old.

lolll some of ya'll are fugin stupid

I don't think you get to call people downright stupid and then compare Tom Brady and Thomas Davis.

Just now, Mr. Scot said:

I'm not really expecting to see any of our players hoisting The Lombardi Trophy anytime soon regardless of whether they're happy about it or not.

well maybe they can all hold hands in a circle around the shield at the 50 yard line and sing kumbaya at the end of week 17 as they fall short of the playoffs by only 5 games, and they can pretend like they've accomplished that feat in their heads. maybe take some mdma while they're at it to enhance the euphoria.

Maybe we can bring Jake back and just give him a contract that matches Cams.  Both have had similar success as far as the post season goes.  Hell, Jake came closer to winning the Super Bowl.

I remember Jake getting that fat contract based on what he had done.  Wooooo the tears ran for years. I think we didn't finish paying him to not play for us until yesterday.

I want guys to want to play here. If you're okay with guys like Smitty, TD, Olsen, etc. getting the shaft because of "it's a business," then maybe you don't need to be a fan of the football team, but more the front office.

Organizations should be built on keeping their investments comfortable and competitive.

Keep your players happy. Keep them performing while they are happy. Profit.

The Panthers will survive this.

The end.

Your title is confusing on this one. I was expecting the post to be about how not liking the GM doesn't matter when you're winning Owls. Kinda like the Pats. They are the closest thing to a Gettleman-run team, and guys are willing to go there with no expectation of loyalty from the front office because they know they have a chance to get a ring. That train just got derailed for us.

Is the same model the Raiders followed with AL Davis and look how well that turned out.

I still haven't seen substantial evidence that either TD or Olsen, or Trai for that matter, have under performed.

If you don't want to pay guys for under performing, then we need to go ahead and cut KB, Funch, Dickson, etc.

I don't think that anyone is saying that they've under-performed. It's a sliding scale. There is a range for each position and how good you are at that position. Greg, for instance, might be the best TE in the league, but that doesn't mean we're going to give him QB money.

Again, look at the teams that are consistently in the playoffs like NE. Do they ever have players that are the highest paid at their position? I think even Brady took a team-friendly contract in order to improve the pieces around him.

Let's be clear

Players are first and foremost, which is obvious

There needs to be a balance, but if you're going to get rid of players then your ass needs to have a system that can survive that (Patriots) or dive into Free Agency hard which the Panthers doesn't do

    • I like that a lot; Ware from Troy and also Khalil Mack who played at University of Buffalo
    • I remember the Huddle consensus over the course of last season and the previous one. Lots of Bryce is a bust, we should've drafted a 4th slot WR, should've kept Wilks, should've kept an armless Cam, etc etc. So... yea... already thought about that. I wouldn't trust the Huddle to detail my car, let alone run a multi-billion dollar professional sports team. 😛
    • bold prediction, I think Mike Green will be the best pass rusher in this class, and thats even with abdul carter.  He reminds me of demarcus ware, not just in size and prowess, but even coming from a Sunbelt school (Ware from Troy, Green from Marshall).  I think he is passionate about the sport where I think Carter as the physical freak might not have the heart.  Thats the guy Im sold on and am gonna hammer the table for, I know he's not projected 8, but he is projected like 12-13, so if a slide back can happen and we still get the guy I want, I'm 100% on board. All that said, it takes 2 to tango, I think the Cowboys are the tango-er.  IMO theres a VERY good shot that Jeanty is available at 8.  Why does that matter?  Not only do the cowboys NEED a runningback (dak sucks without a run game), but MORE importantly, gee where did Jeanty play in high school.....Frisco TX, literally Dallas Metro.  Soo, RB is a position of need and the best RB and most blue chip draft selection that  could improve the offense immensly played IN dallas metro AND will be in range for them to move up and pick?  Do ya think Jerry Jones is gonna just say no to the Jersey Sales?  Jerry might have sexually assaulted a woman and attempted to prevent black people from going to school, but he's no idiot (he is).  IMO, we get a good enough package, prlly their first and third,  maybe a conditional later and we move to 12.  We get Green, they get Jeanty, everbuddy happy.
