so we had a legit GM who held millionaires accountable for their performance but instead our team is now sponsored by Kleenex/Tampax

Says the guy who has been in the locker room 1 time, I mean 0 times, like you know if he has absolutely nothing to bitch about

Gettleman getting canned, as much of a Gettleman lover I was, was best for this team. You have to have somebody the players like at GM or else there is an elephant in the room, a GM can be as much as a locker room cancer as a player can

how many times have you been in the locker room

The funny thing is that the people reveling in Gettleman's downfall think that pointing out Beason helps their case.
"Yeah!  You tell'em Jon!  See what a gettledouche he was!"

I think you really really are butt hurt that he got fired I think this wasn't a good time for him to get fired but he could've just really been that bad sometime businesses sacrifice a little bit of profit that was increased by a good manager because they cause a hostile work environment is not that far fetched people get fired for this every day it should be no surprise that you know how to deal with people if you're a general manager and have people working under you. At my store there was a woman who knew everything and knew how to run the store amazingly we were doing better and profit we were doing better in just about everything but she would talk crap about people constantly cause arguments at work just creating a horrible environment to work in so she had to be let go of it doesn't matter how good you are if you're horrible what dealing with people that's your job. Yes professionalism and logical levelheaded thinking is needed but when it is attached to an asshole please believe people will not put up with it they will be distracted by you being an ass and won't see any of the good things that's what happens

If you are being an eeyore @Proudiddy (perfect wording for it, nice) over the decision JR made, get the fug off the forum, get the fug away from being a fan of this team. It was a good move.

We can all bitch and moan about this move as to whether we like it or not, but we need to do it civilly.

Please watch it with this stuff. Thanks.

Serious question here not meant to be insulting. Do you find it offensive if I call a man a pussy? Because I don't do it in the context of marginalizing women or their great gift, it's just a word. I just ask because I'm always fascinated by what does and doesn't offend people.

I'm going to go out a limb here and say that many of the folks that are happy with this move are either younger than 30, or haven't really been fans of this team very long.

This stuff reeks of college student angst, and not really having many big boy jobs yet.

After actually hearing the interview, I don't think it's too much of a mystery as to why G-man was canned so suddenly. If it went down about how Beason suggested, then arrogance and disrespect towards the man that doles out your salary is a pretty stupid career move.

And, it's totally believable when you think about the surprise and abruptness of the firing.

There's more than one way to skin a cat, but Big Cat won't be skinned by anyone. He's the one that does the skinning. Gettleman appears to have gotten too big for his britches.

"respect"  "respect"  "respect".. you earn respect by performing at a high level for the millions you get paid. When you can't you're out. Period. End of story. Someone younger and cheaper is waiting on the sidelines. The NFL is about making money not playing paddy cake with a bunch of whiners who refuse to acknowledge their time is up.

That's just not how things work when you're dealing with quality players who have done things the right way. You even "fire" them with respect, or it really could bite you in the ass. Politics when you're basically dealing with franchise legends and/or fan favorites always is part of the story, and if you treat them badly, the story will end when you're canned, unless you're the top dog---the big cat. Gettleman's firing was the effectual "end of story."

    • I complete disagree. Who is available is extremely relevant. If you have a couple of players you would be happy with and you can still get them if you trade back, you should do that in a heartbeat. Being afraid that people will lowball you next year is an odd stance. Then you just say no next year, problem solved. In this particular draft you can get a very good player at 46. But to each their own.
    • I don't think so.  Watson really screwed them up.  I see something happening, but do not know what.  Cousins could be had in a trade--but they liked Flacco when he played there.  If it were me, I would not spend the #2 pick on Sanders.  I would go after a tier 2 qb because I think Will Howard is going to start in the NFL soon, and I think Ewers was rated very high at the beginning of the year--he knows adversity and he beat out a Manning while taking Texas to 2 playoff appearances.  I am not good at picking QBs, but I think Howard's run pass option and his accuracy is going to help someone.  Stay in Ohio and play for the Browns behind Flacco--
    • After Cam at #1, there are three or four elite players and there could be a trade--If I am the Giants and I am needed a winning season badly and I have several needs, I might trade out and pick up mid first and an extra second rounder, including a QB--while nobody is going to move up to #3 for Sanders, they might for Carter or Hunter.  If the Giants then move back, Sanders could still be in play.  That could be the trade in the top 3.  New England wants Campbell and I get that; Jacksonville at #5 could move back if someone wants Graham or Jeanty.  But barring some trade, the top 4 are probably locked in. So it could be 2 hours into the draft before we get any surprises. Nice list, by the way--you nailed it.
