Bears continue to find a way to win

What amuses me right now is the notion that Ron Turner and Lovie Smith are doing a better job of developing Cutler than supposed QB guru Mike Shanahan did.

Who has been so silly as to say such a thing? Really!? Lovie Smith, a defensive guru is being heralded for his development of Cutler... By whom? Link or shut it

I am glad for the Bears that they are winning, but I do think that they would have the same record with or without Cutler. JMO

I'm sorry, but there is no way that Orton could nake the plays that Cutler has made, especially the runs, scrambles and roll outs.

I'm saying it. I think they're doing a better job than Shanahan did.

(take the chip off your shoulder dude; not every comment made about the Bears on here is a slam)

Then you're an idiot to think Lovie has been hands on with Cutler  If you had said Pepper Hamilton and Ron Turner, I'd say you were on point.

See from above...

Still, kudos to the coaches for their approach with him. What amuses me right now is the notion that Ron Turner and Lovie Smith are doing a better job of developing Cutler than supposed QB guru Mike Shanahan did.

No, Smith is not directly coaching Cutler, but I don't know any head coach in the league who doesn't have his hands in the whole operation to some level. That's why he gets the credit - and the blame - for anything his staff does, same as any other coach.

(sheesh) :sosp:

It's a compliment. Like I said, take the chip off your shoulder

No way the Bears are 3-1 with Orton at the helm.

For as long as I can remember, the Bears offense was doomed if they had to play from behind.

Cutler has brought them back from being down pretty big against Seattle, Pitt, and even Detroit.

I can't turn the TV off and go work out or pull weeds or clean stuff now, because when I turn the TV back on, they are back in the game.

Is it ALL Cutler, no, but he is a significant portion of it.

The Bears no longer have ONLY a "game manager", they have a guy at QB that can WIN a game for them if needed.

It is refreshing and TOTALLY different than what we have been used to as Bear fans.

Do I WANT him slingin' it all over the field? No.

I'd rather they kept in control and balanced, but it is nice to know they have a guy that is more mobile, more athletic, more durable, and with a power arm, rather than a guy that just "doesn't make mistakes".

I love it.

When did Cutler play those teams in the regular season, for Chicago?

I take my hat off when I say good for him. They have him playing within himself.

But lets be honest here, maybe Orton couldn't have made the runs, but I still think that Chicago could be 3-1 with him at the helm.

I don't understand what you mean here... Cutler just played those teams in the regular season for Chicago....

But lets be honest here, maybe Orton couldn't have made the runs, but I still think that Chicago could be 3-1 with him at the helm.

Just because that contention supports what you feel, does not at all mean we're being "honest" about your assessment. We're playing a huge "what if" game here... would Denver still be 4-0 with Cutler at the helm? I think so, yes. Would Chicago still be 3-1 with Orton at the helm? No, I don't think so.

Why does anybody think Orton all of a sudden has made a huge stride if for any other reason than this guy

the trade was good for the Bears because they get an All-pro under center, something they haven't been able to get, and the trade was good for the Broncos because when you've got a QB guru like Josh, if you can trade a prolific starting QB for an average passer that you can turn into an efficient signal caller, and in the process get 2 first round picks you can use as ammo to beef up other areas of the game, why not go for it?

in Chicago he would still be an average starter, and the Bears probably wouldn't have won the Steelers game and maybe not the Seahawks game either.
