Does Your Opinion of Thomas Davis Change?

The players always have a right to try to get paid what they think they are worth.  This is a professional business, as hard as that is for fans to separate sometimes given our emotional investment.  I have left a job over money before, and I didn't feel bad.  The reverse can be true also in an "at-will" employment environment, which the NFL definitely is.

That is why owners in theory hire GM's, because they have to have the foresight and the emotional detachment to make the best moves for the franchise long-term.  I don't know everything, but it does seem like JR is letting emotional attachment rule this decision

I don't consider at-will employment to be comparable among millionaires and the working class. TD has every right to demand as much as he can get, but don't compare it to some guy leaving a company for 60k/yr vs 45k/yr. And if he is gonna demand top dollar don't pretend to be a team player, a real team player sacrifices personal gain for the collective.

I also said I hold JR ultimately responsible for any actions made. But it still lessens my opinion of TD/Greg/whoever if they did try to influence JR into getting rid of GMan.

Thomas Davis wants an extension, but don't think he is trying to break the bank. I believe he wants a fair extension to extend his playing time with the panthers. I don't think Father Time has caught up with him yet and you do not find elite players like him available.  At this point in his career you cannot question his injury history. After his third ACL tear he has been very durable.

I don't think DG wanted to give him an extension regardless of the money on the table. You cannot replace a player like TD on the field or more importantly inside the locker room.
