Now I'll contradict myself: this is not the worst timing. If they have someone in mind and they're in house by Tuesday - big "if" - they'd have the entire camp to evaluate. If it's an in-house candidate, they are already ready to go.

It's being reported that insiders are not surprised and this has been under consideration for a while.  Richardson is no fool ( despite what some may think) and certainly has made plans prior to this firing.  It would not surprise me at all that a well known figure surfaces for a more central role for the franchise.......Peyton Manning.

The president left earlier this year and has not been replaced.  JR in not only on the back nine but on the last few holes, and the franchise will be sold upon his death.  Peyton has seen what Elway has done in Denver and wants his shot.  The ESPYs are over and it's time to make a move.  

Bring Peyton in as  the GM, with a minority ownership, and power to hire his own president.

Id say the odds of this happening is about the same as Jerry putting his old heart back in.
