Pure speculation: vets got into Richardson's ear about extensions and he didn't like GMan playing hardball.
Sad because a winning franchise like the Patriots takes all of the emotion out of a business decision.

Only thing with that is, Olsen and TD are 2 of our key players that keep us relevant when we are holding on by a string and neither have showed any signs of slowing down.

Norwell, Turner, Star, Davis, Olsen, all need to be career Panthers w/ Gettleman getting even bigger head after a Super Bowl season those players would be low balled by Gettleman thinking he can do whatever and still win Super Bowl's but Hurney would keep everyone

if this really is over not wanting to give TD a big extension then it makes the decision even dumber. no way we should give TD a big fat extension given his age, injury history, and with so many quality young LBers on the roster

if that's really the reason then JR let his personal feelings toward a single player cloud his judgement and he's screwing the franchise over long term really badly as a result

TD slowing down considerably (especially in pass coverage) and has a replacement in the wings, Olsen deserves an extension/raise but has no leverage as he is still under contract. This team was a few plays away from 9-7, 10-6 even with the injuries to the OL, secondary and Luke.
