Dave Gettleman FIRED as Panthers GM

Gettleman's biggest flaw was treating the Panthers like they were the New York Giants. Charlotte and North Carolina will never be New York or Boston. People don't like cutthroat decisions here. They like their stars. They like their personalities. They like people to be here for a long time and show up in car ads and be active in the community. We're so nice here. Someone once described a Charlotte suburb where I used to live as a "cult of nice people". Any GM will always be handicapped by this, but it's never going to change as long as Jerry Richardson is the owner.

I know a guy who likes to do that....his name is Dave Gettleman. You want a guy that cuts fat? LOL Panthers are about to be loaded with fat deals for mediocre players.

Say hello to James Anderson 2.0

Are you seriously going to argue the GM that didn't cut these players would have cut these players?

DIDNT HATE GETTLEMAN BUT LETS LOOK AT THE PICTURE , HE GOT OUR CAP UNDER CONTROL , DRAFTED GOOD PLAYERS BUT NOT REALLY ANY SUPERSTARS OTHER BESIDES KK , WAS HE THAT MUCH BETTER THAN MARTY AT DRAFTING? NOT REALLY ITS CLOSER THAN YOU THINK , HE NEVER SPENDS EVEN WHEN WE HAVE CAP DONT GIVE ME THAT BS THAT WE WERE IN CAP HELL , HE WASNT GOOD WITH GIVING PLAYERS CONTRACTS NO EXCUSE WHY TD AND GREG SHOULDN'T GET PAID! .

HE LET GOOD PLAYERS JUST WALK , MIKE MITCHELL , CAPTAIN IN 2013 , GINN , AND JOSH NORMAN ,JUST PICTURE OUR 2015 SECOUNDARY WITH CAPTAIN AND MITCHELL ! THE REASON WHY I THINK HE GOT FIRED IS THE RISK OF US LOSING GREG AND TD . I JUST HOPE OUR NEXT GM GIVES US GOOD PLAYERS IN FREEAGENCY

mitchell and norman were both recently on the list of most overpaid players in the NFL. both good players but not worth the money they were demanding, so DG rightfully let them walk. those are the decisions that give you sustained success in the NFL, richardson still hasn't figured that out yet

More loyal to the star players maybe, but not to trash like Ed Dickson.

One player doesn't define a GM, Dickson is terrible and should have been cut agree with you there.

But if you think we're about to go hire a more cutthroat guy than Gettleman you're sadly mistaken.

Olsen needs extension, Davis too

Cam will need to be paid higher after another likely MVP season

Trai, Norwell, Star, all need contracts

Gettleman was going to play hard ball getting all that done when it's not really that hard. You extend them all, and give all what they want because they are key to our success

Not true.  Business is business.  Cam and Luke should be the only two sure things, being generational talents in their prime.

Seriously? Bradberry is most definitely better than J-No was at the same point in his career.

BUT YOURE MISSING THE POINT WE COULD OF HAD BOTH BRAD AND NORMAN WE WOULD HAVE THE BEST DAMN SECOUNDARY INSTEAD OF BEING ONE OF THE WORST VS THE PASS

I am not in the panic mode for letting him go now.  I am in a WTF mode but it's done and we need to find someone.  I would say someone that can manage the cap well and be smart enough to draft well.

Maybe losing a lot of our scouting staff didn't help either.

Our top 45 to 50 players are set.  We will need a new GM as soon as possible to come in and be ready in case injury occurs during the season at a critical position.

I personally like DG and think he was good for the team but as many have said.  He treated the players like a commodity and with very little personality.  Got it, it's a business but those players that meant so much to this team are treated like pawns.  It probably was the last straw.

Well ask their fans. I've read quite a lot of posts, and most say he was well worth it.

Also, Bradberry is in no way doing as well. Find me one statistic that shows me this, or hell just compare highlights when that fails.

Go compare seasonal statistics, than note that Bradberry is a rookie, as I have stated. Than note he played 3 less games, than note how many years normans been in the league, than watch the footage of each player from every game last season, than insert your foot in your mouth.

And if your still not convinced. Ask yourself how many times over his tenure Norman has cost us with unsportsmanlike penalties...

and if at that point your still not convinced statistically a rookie did as good as a league star. Ask yourself which one of them is willing to punch Cam Newton?

im not hating on Norman or the rescind and release. I'm not saying he's a bad player. I'm saying I feel gettleman found a quality guy and perhaps a future league star in Bradberry, many of whom claimed he was a poo pick.

Norman made his own bed, and yes it sucked for the panthers at every level. But I respect Gettlemagic for keeping us out of Cap hell.

A true leader is not marked by the victory speeches they make, but being able to deliver the bad news and make those decisions.
