My point is Georgia's DL is worse than say the Falcons or another team we will face. You could argue that the Panthers OL is better than any college OL which would be fair. Essentially my point was a kicker's performance in college has no correlation with NFL success.

Actually there probably exists a solid correlation between the performance of a kicker in college and that same kicker's performance in the NFL, just as that correlation exists for players at other positions.

You don't see 50% kickers become NFL All-Pros all too often.

But correlation doesn't necessarily = guarantee.

My point was more along the lines of a 90% FG% in college doesn't necessarily correlate with NFL success, not that a shitty college kicker would become a NFL All-Pro. As with every position, the few elite players in college make it to the NFL where even fewer succeed long-term.

I have seen some pretty petty arguments on this board but I believe this one takes the cake. Obviously he hasn't face pressure in the NFL but neither has any of our draft picks.  Arguments can be made the CMC won't have the ability to do what he did in college.  Same with Samuel and you can go right down the line.

That said, If I am 7th round pick trying to unseat a Veteran Kicker.  I am going to work on my technique day in and day out until I do it without thinking.

For someone to fire off stupid comments about facing pressure and outdoors and blah blah blah is just that STUPID.  He'll face it in good time but at least he;ll be ready. I can say that I like that he is out working on his craft and will be ready to get it done.

Gano's done a good job for the last 5 years, but if this competition is close I'm voting for Butker simply on the basis of age. I know Gano might have quite a few years left in his leg, but I'll take the 8 yr. age difference.

And the delta in cap.
