Figured this was important since it has to do with Carolina sports. Hurricanes being sold to Texas Rangers former CEO. Will stay in NC.

As a season ticket holder, I'm really happy to hear this.  The Canes had runs of being really good last year but they did put themselves in a huge hole early on which was too much to overcome.

I was really worried last year that the Canes would get sold and move.  The arena was 25% full for a lot of the games.  It's sad when there's more fans for the visiting team than the home team.

I love going to games and cannot wait for the season to start back up again.

Respect my man.  I'm looking into season ticket packages for next season.  I think once I get done at State, I'll for sure buy two.

For those that are interested, Tom Sorenson just wrote a piece yesterday on MLB in Charlotte.

http://www.charlotteobserver.com/sports/spt-columns-blogs/tom-sorensen-blog/article160892494.html

Fantasy baseball in Charlotte differs from fantasy baseball in other cities. In other cities, people draft Major League players. In Charlotte, we attempt to draft a Major League team.

The fantasy is that we can support Major League Baseball. We’re not ready. Let the next wave of expansion, if indeed there is such a wave, wash up in Montreal or Mexico City, Nashville or Vancouver.

Argh.  Same argument decade after decade.  Go back in time and look at every current MLB city/region when they got a team and compare them to Charlotte now.  There is no reason 15 million in 2 states, 7.5 million in 100 miles, and 2.3 million in the metro can't support all major sports in 2017.

Also, for the people talking about an MLB team uptown, I'm fairly sure that a city cannot host a Triple A AND MLB team at the same time.  So the fact that the Knights just built that stadium and have an agreement in place for a while I think keeps us from it at least for a while.

You are correct that there cannot and would not be an MLB and existing Knights franchise in Charlotte.  It is possible but very cumbersome and expensive to have MLB and nuke the Knights&BB&T however, and was Jerry Reese's plea for so many years and part of why he was correct.

Nope, just gotta win.  Nobody would show up for their games in Charlotte either.  Simple fact is, they haven't made the Playoffs in 8 years.

Even though I live around Charlotte now, I would hate to see the Canes leave Raleigh.

What I would LOVE to see, would be the team play a slate of home games in CLT every year to build up the fanbase across the state.

Charlotte loves the checkers, but Western NC as a whole doesn't give a poo about hockey. And the Canes have a notoriously hard time working their home schedule around the State Fair and ACC basketball.

Spend 2 weeks in the fall and 2 weeks in spring in the Queen City, building your brand. Let the Checkers play at PNC so the die hards can see how the young guys in the pipeline look.

I've been begging for this to happen ever since we acquired the Checkers. Hopefully Greenberg sees the opportunity to build up the teams base beyond the BBQ belt.

They are dead last because the Hurricanes suck. They extended a GM who hasn't produced a winning season in 8 years or something crazy and then wonder why no one wants to go spend money on the crap product. If the Panthers had 10 years straight of losing seasons what do you think the stadium atmosphere would be like?

I would just like to reignite this topic based on one of my posts....literally 4 days ago, most thought the Panthers were set at GM. I fear we are about to enter the twilight of what was once a great run as Gettlemen was likely hired based on his ability to evaluate talent. People were upset that he let go of Steve Smith....Superb Owl. Let go of Deangelo....Superb Owl.
