Figured this was important since it has to do with Carolina sports. Hurricanes being sold to Texas Rangers former CEO. Will stay in NC.

Raleigh doesn't give a poo about the Hurricanes.  Terrible pro sports town.  They are dead last in attendance a few years running now.  2006 feels like a lonnnngggggggg time ago.

Well, I care dammit.  I enjoy going to a Canes game.  But, do you blame them, dude?  They haven't made the Playoffs in 8 damn years.  That's on the Canes.  That's the longest streak in the NHL.  Which is absurd.

This isn't fair.  Coming from a diehard Canes fan...they haven't made the playoffs since 09.  Panthers attendance would look a lot closer to 2010 if that were the case here....road fans and a few diehards sprinkled in.  People everywhere want to see a winner.  It's not supernatural.  I live in Charlotte so I can readily say eff Raleigh as opposed to Charlotte, but to put it on the city is laughable.  Want to know who the worst teams in NHL attendance were in 2006 when the Canes won?  Chicago and Pittsburgh.  Two teams who are now at the top and have multiple cups since the Canes went to the playoffs last.  PLUS.  Lower level tickets to a Canes game cost TWICE what I paid for my lower level Hornets tickets for PER GAME (I should know.  I have had PSLs since day one.  Hornets season ticket holder 2014-2016, Canes season ticket holder since like a month and a half ago because they had a lower level 1997$ 20th anniversary deal).

That current (now previous) owner is a trashpiece and although I'm not anywhere near sure how he got 500 mill out of that, but more power to him and more power to the new guy who owns the MB Pelicans and a few other teams and can come in and get stuff done.  People will start to fill PNC again.  Starting this year.  They have an impressive young core, a great coach, and a former player/GM who knows exactly how to rebuild and last year and this year is when it will show most.  With league average goaltending this year, they're going to the playoffs, and that place will be on fire.

I guess this might be a good place for it, but I saw on the ESPN sports ticker during the HR Derby that the MLB commish (Manfred I think) said that there were 3 places suited for expansion: Montreal, Charlotte and Mexico City. It mentioned that he said there were a couple stadium issues they wanted to work on first (Tampa and Oakland). Tied into this, Derek Jeter's consortium has added Michael Jordan into their bid for the Miami Marlins. Not sure if that signals a potential move to Charlotte from one of those teams. The bottom three teams in attendance are shockingly Miami, Oakland and Tampa.

I'd be all for MLB in Charlotte even thought the Knights stadium is really nice for games.

Unfortunately, the Knights leased their stadium for something like 20 years and there isn't room for expansion for MLB seating/parking. The minor league stadium downtown was incredibly short sighted in my opinion. I would LOVE for an MLB team to move to the Carolinas. I just don't know if it is financially feasible, but I would definitely go to some of the games.

Don't you talk dirty to me dammit.  No, I'm just joking.  Please, continue.  :)

They are dead last because the Hurricanes suck. They extended a GM who hasn't produced a winning season in 8 years or something crazy and then wonder why no one wants to go spend money on the crap product. If the Panthers had 10 years straight of losing seasons what do you think the stadium atmosphere would be like?

Greensboro needs something. Raleigh has the Hurricanes, Charlotte has the Panthers and Hornets, Greensboro is growing and will likely be the next city that starts expanding at a faster pace due to increased costs in Charlotte and Raleigh areas. Not to mention it splits Raleigh and Charlotte on 85 so it would be feasible for travel.

Jerry Reese was right.  He was pursuing the Rays.

Greensboro had their chance, voted against a $.01 tax on fast food for a stadium in 1998 that would've brought the Twins.

It's definitely not a next year type of thing. I honestly think an MLB team would be pretty feasible here. We're right around #20 in metro areas in population and growing fast.

Agreed on the Knights stadium, it wouldn't have anything to do with MLB expansion.

Not only feasible but a home run, literally and figuratively.  15 million people in the Carolinas, a baseball hotbed, and 7.5 million people within 100 miles of Charlotte.  By comparison Minneapolis and Denver only have 4.5 million within 100 miles and have all 5 sports to include NHL and MLS.

    • You are wise beyond your years to agree with me.  I think Fields is the free agent with the most upside---I mean, you keep looking until your franchise qb is on the roster-we are all hoping that Bryce will grab it, but he has not yet.
    • he is a sleeper--I am not good at predicting college QBs who succeed in the NFL, but this guy is going to change my luck.  I just think he'd be a good fit here.  4th round, maybe 5th.
