Not bad...  I think he would have been in front Arians, Reid and Harbaugh.  They are all good coaches but none of them has done as well as Rivera and Rivera has owned Arians.

I think his biggest issue is his loyalty to Shula.  I think he could do much better with a better offensive coordinator.

Meh, the only thing Rivera has on arians is a SB appearance, but I'd still call arians a better coach. The other two have SB appearances (and rings in Harbaughs case) and definitely would call them better.  I want to like Ron, but poor personnel decisions (coaching staff and players) and the refusal of timid Ron to go away make it hard. He seems like a really good motivator but still learning the other aspects.

I'd put him on par with Arians but ahead of Reid. The walrus has been at this a long time and has nothing to show for it.

However, I'm still waiting for consecutive winning seasons. It's insane that we have never done that in over 20 years in the NFL. It's actually pretty sorry.

Head to head... Only time Arians ever came close was 2013 before the Riverboat went into full effect. Arians has benefitted from a spectacular roster his entire HC career. Rivera has only had that luck since '13 so when looking at regular season career records one must take that into account. I would take Rivera over Arians as a HC and it's not close.

He's not better than Reid, not even close. You switch QB's and Rivera will never sniff the playoffs with Alex Smith, Reid and Cam would be insane

Different styles.  Reid is just as flawed

Agreed, Smith is a good QB for his system, same with McNabb. Reid has had some extremely talented squads and done very little with them.

Especially some of his Eagle teams.  Reid often was like the anti Fox.  Reid would get up and then get super pass happy in Philly

Harbaugh has won a super bowl, and Ried has consistently been one of the most successful coaches in the league for a while, I have no problem with either of them as the choice!

I've said several times before that Shula will be the thing that gets him fired. The only thing that will save him, short of Shula's successful evolution, is the fact that G-man is a smart and sensible GM that rightly (in my opinion) will look at the bigger picture and see that it would be a pretty big risk to axe a two-time COTY that inspires so much motivation and loyalty in his team. Ron is still a relatively new HC, and he has arguably done an amazing job if viewed objectively. Sure, he has had notable growing pains, but for my money he is coming along nicely.

Other than his dying loyalty to Shula, which admittedly still could turn out to be the right decision, the only other problem that I have with him is his conservatism in regards to making what I consider personnel changes during preseason and regular season on game days. Last season I thought that he should have gotten the youngsters in a lot sooner at the receiver position when it was evident that the status quo wasn't working, and especially once we were cooked. You had starters out there seemingly just going through the motions---at least not playing inspired football. In fact, Cam should have been shut down for that matter when it was evident he was hurt and we weren't going anywhere.
